Oh man, I'm jealous of all of you!

I want to be able to take time off when Scott first gets here but I also just think about the fact that I'll be supporting us until he gets the EAD, and it freaks me out and makes me feel like I should work all the time.

I want to be a lady of leisure too. :(

Panic over! Housekeeping found my passport, and Fedex will deliver it in the morning!

So, on with the whole immigration report...

I left home at 6.15am on saturday for my 9.30am flight from Heathrow to JFK with Virgin. My bags were bursting at the seams, but I had weighed them, and was prepared to pay the 50 pounds excess weight charges. However, I wasn't prepared for them to limit the weight on my hand-luggage case to 6 kilos (ridiculous), so I had to use the "just in case" hold-all, and repack everything. No biggie, but it meant I had to rush through security, and was the penultimate person on my flight. It was FULL, but a very nice flight none-the-less. I was seated at the back of the plane, so I was at the back of the immigration queue, and it took 1hr 15 mins to get to the front of the queue. Once I got to the front, I had a five minute conversation with the immigration officer, and he opened my visa packet, then sent me to another officer, who typed information into her computer for about ten minutes, then handed me back my passport with the I-94 stapled inside, and on the back of the I-94, is the red 90 day work authorisation stamp. An hour and a half total. Marty had been waiting for three hours though, as he made it up to JFK quicker than expected. We got into my new car(!) and used my new Tom-Tom to get into New York and find our hotel (Isn't he great...) We had a lovely weekend, then drove down to Baltimore yesterday. We HAD planned to get my social security card today, but I'll have to do that by myself tomorrow now, once I have my passport back! We went looking at plants instead! Let coupled life begin... :P

oh, so am I

and I keep adding more and more to my list of 'Things To Do With All That Spare Time' so in the end I'll have no spare time left

I can't even do that - we still don't have a place so I can't plan for decorating or gardening or anything... :(

Oh man, I'm jealous of all of you!

Ohh I know it sucks - Jeremy has to take time off in June because they are closing down his workplace for a while but it really sucks it isn't a little later when I am there... I think he is going to come out to England a bit earlier... We have found some uber cheap flights - we just need to find out the info for Daisy before we book and it is sooo frustrating!!!

Marty has already got me a job waitressing at Macaroni Grill. Hopefully I'll start before the end of the week! I have too much wedding stuff to pay for to be a lady of leisure! Although, we're not getting married until the end of May, so I think they'll be a substantial gap between the end of my temp EAD, and the start of my permanent EAD. That also happens to be the height of summer, so I need to find a local pool...

Lol... well... when I say uber cheap I mean not as extortionate as we were originally looking at... we were looking at over $1k for Jeremy alone and we found one for under $800!!!

Can't book til Wednesday though so I can phone up about my cat...

Oooh, didn't realise that, thanks. I really want to start work though. Do you think it's ok to go every day until I'm in the system? Maybe I'll get lucky?

you could try, but dont let them manually enter you into the system, because 'they say' that this will significantly delay the receipt of your card...i know that adriano didnt need to have the number in order to begin working...i dont know if your job requires it, but they might accept you just with the visa and ead stamp alone...i had adriano bring the letter from ssa with him that says that he will receive the card in 2 weeks, the boss seemed okay with that and just made a copy of the letter

OK, thanks Susie

good luck to ya

also, i would go to the ssa office a few minutes before it opens, because you will be out of there in no time...we got there today at 6:55 am (the office opened at 7), and we were out of there at 7:25...by the time we were leaving, the line had significantly increased...when we got there, there were like 4 people ahead of us, and when we were leaving, the line was about 20 people deep
