I really hate CIC

My husband is in need of his PR card. This is his third attempt at getting one. The previous two times, the application was lost and since he didn't send it via return receipt, he had no proof that he sent it. He has been a PR for hmm 13-14 years, long before the requirement of the card. Anyway, when he first submitted application #3 in Nov 2007, CIC's website said processing time was 45 days. I checked again right after Christmas, and it said 59 days. I just checked again, and now its at 74 days.

I never have been one for conspiracy theories, but I am beginning to think USCIS and CIC are in cohoots with messing with us. :unsure:

01/20/2009: Received another RFE for Affadavit of Support Info

02/02/2009: Responded to RFE with brand new AOS based on 2008 tax return (if that doesn't shut them up, dunno what will)

02/19/2009: EAD card received in mail (no updates on Online Case Status ever made)

02/23/2009: AP received (again, no online updates)

02/26/2009: Received interview appointment letter for 4/6/09

04/06/2009: AOS approved for unconditional GC

04/21/2009: GC received

So sorry to hear this.. please feel free to vent here.. we may not have many answers, but we for sure can relate and sympathize!!

AOS:

2007-02-22: Sent AOS /EAD

2007-03-06 : NOA1 AOS /EAD

2007-03-28: Transferred to CSC

2007-05-17: EAD Card Production Ordered

2007-05-21: I485 Approved

2007-05-24: EAD Card Received

2007-06-01: Green Card Received!!

Removal of Conditions:

2009-02-27: Sent I-751

2009-03-07: NOA I-751

2009-03-31: Biometrics Appt. Hartford

2009-07-21: Touched (first time since biometrics) Perhaps address change?

2009-07-28: Approved at VSC

2009-08-25: Received card in the mail

Naturalization

2012-08-20: Submitted N-400

2013-01-18: Became Citizen

Update: My husband got a letter from CIC asking for a copy of his passport. Of course, he submitted a copy of the bio page of his passport per the instructions when he filed, but now, they want a copy of the passport he used when he landed, when he was like 3 YEARS OLD! Besides having to list every visit he has made outside of Canada, having to find a guanantor to sign his PR card application, submit a copy of his birth certificate and copies of his passport (and all pages, most likely so they can match up the stamps with his list of visits outside the country), 2 Canadian passport-style photos, and his IMM-100 (LPR form), they need a copy of this ancient document!

How annoying, does he even have it?

I must say, when I found out what we had to do to get that card I was a bit perturbed too. It was like compiling all the stuff for immigration again in a way. Hey do this stuff, pay the money blah blah blah - here is your piece of paper - but oh hang on, we want you to get all this stuff together AGAIN and pay for it.

I think the whole PR card thing is just a cash grab.

Yes, fortunately, he kept all his expired passports. Chilean citizens only get passport issued for 5 years, so he has a few of them sitting around.

On a happy note, my wife was born in Chile!! lol Her parents were Americans working down in S.America. Hope it gets settled soon! What a pain in the butt

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I know exactly what a pain in da royal A%$ they can be , when I had to renew my LPR card in canada , they send the form back 3 times cose they couldnt figure out my eye color , ( I have mixed eyes , green blue gray ,) they asked for the color so I wrote it , they send it back askin for the main color so I said green , they send it back saying in my passport its differant , ( my passport is german I got green gray blue in there ) , so I calld them explained everything finaly was able to get the process started , but this left and right cost me over a month waste of time where it could have been processd , took 6 month to get the new card from start to finish ,

24 Nov 09 send in I 751 ( ROC , in VT )

On March 9, 2010, we ordered production of your new card.

Still waiting on the PR card... My husband submitted the requested documents 2 weeks ago via overnight mail along with a copy of his flight itinerary for his upcoming visit to the U.S. in ummm 1.5 weeks. CIC promised they would turn it around in 1 week. At least the U.S. doesn't care if he has it or doesn't have it when he goes thru CBP, but the Canadian immigration people sure like to give him ####### about it... to the tune of 2 hours sitting around waiting in their interview rooms. His nexus pass application is on hold until he can get that stupid card.

PR card finally received, about 2 days ago. He had to run to a downtown TO office to pick it up, but at least it is in hand. He will apply for a nexus pass as soon as he gets back from this up coming visit.

Now, I have to ask...why is it so bad when CIC does all this stupid ####### but when USCIS does all their stupid ####### it is "due to national security" and "they do what they want"?

I HATE miles, gallons, pints, words spelled without u's, and all that other jazz...
