I'm getting nowhere with the 1800 help-line - they tell me to keep waiting and there's nothing they can do. I've tried to make an appointment with InfoPass but the system is now telling me they are not accepting appointments in my area.

My husband and I filed our I-130 and my I-485 in July 2007. A month later, we received the NOA with a note saying we hadn't sent the $70 fingerprinting fee. I sent the biometrics fee along with an I-131 as I wanted to travel to Canada for Christmas. The AP was rejected on the basis that the filing fee was incorrect and should be $305. Stapled to that SAME NOA stating my fee was incorrect, was my money order for $305. I also received a rejection notice for my I-485. When I called the helpline, they told me my AOS had NOT been rejected but was still listed in the system as pending.

I never received my travel documents in time to go to Canada for Christmas and have heard nothing since my last mail correspondence to USCIS pointing out the problems. I've received a second request for my biometrics fee which I've already sent.

When I call the 1-800 line they give me nothing helpful. I'm told to wait. I haven't worked in 7 months and it's obviously taking its toll on my husband and I. Is there anyone besides the helpline and InfoPass that I can contact to get my application un-f*cked?

ANY advice would be appreciated :)

USCIS was buried in petitions this past July so this is not un-usual.

Why did you not file for EAD when you filed for AOS to avoid the 7 months out of work? EAD should have been approved within 90 days.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

At the time we filed for my AOS we discussed whether or not to pay for the EAD but since we were told processing times for AOS should be within 6 months. We decided just to wait for the AOS rather than file the additional form... and since NONE of my forms have come back positively, I'm kind of glad we didn't. I have a feeling the EAD would have just been held up as well.

Probably it would have, as the EAD and AP are held if there is a 'problem' with the I485.

Hope you don't get caught in namecheck.

I hope so TOO.. That's not even a problem I had considered until looking on here. Is that a common issue with AOS? Does anyone know if it's country specific etc.? I'm from Canada so I'm assuming it would be okay as the countries have a pretty open flow of information, from what I understand.

Sorry to hear about you trouble, if I were you I would contact your local congressman. We had some trouble along the way with our application and when calling our local congressman we were given a lot of answer. Most congressman offices have special people to deal with helping residents get through the red tape of immigration and legal issues. It would be worth the call even if you just get a few answers. Good luck.
