Is it normal to be touched quite a few times?

Our case was filed on 1/4. We received the NOA1 on 1/12. Then we also had two "touches" on 1/11 and 1/14. Is it normal to be touched so many times??? Could this be that they are working quicker now?

Your time line is quite impressive. I wish the I-130 petitions sent to the Chicago lock box were moving so quickly!

From what I have seen touches don't necessarily mean anything but for your sake I hope it means they are moving your petition right along! :)

They could simply be moving your file into a box to wait to be processed.

We got touched a few days after we received our NOA1.

Best of luck!! :)

Touches are always good - we were touched quite a few times right before we were approved!

Yes, it means when you look at your case online, the date is updated. This means someone has looked at or done something to your file.

"Touched" is when your "Last Updated" date changes. So when you log into your USCIS.com account and look at your account, you will see a date when your case was Last Updated. If that date changes, that means you were "touched" You could have been looked at, moved to another desk, moved to another box, whatever.

Touches do not always mean anything other than your case was moved. Could be to level out a wobbly table or it could be an update for pending approval. Really hard to say. However, for some reason, you will be looking for that ultimate touch multipe times a day. The longer your case is pending, the more you look for that "touch". I believe they are suppose to send an email when your case is updated, but I've read where sometimes they did not receive the email. So, bookmark the USCIS login page to your favorites because you'll checking it often.

Ain't that the truth??! When I first learned about that site I was checking it once a week or so. The closer it got to when I thought I should be seeing an approval or if I saw someone along my time line get approved, the more I checked it. It got to be 3-5 times a day!

And one thing you will learn during this process, everything that seems abnormal IS normal! Here's wishing a speedy journey without too many bumps.

I filed one day after you and have a similar pattern of touches after receiving the NOA1. I pray that they are moving faster but more than likely they are just moving our files from one pile to another
