Okay my hubby just scanned and emailed the paper that the embassy gave him and it is a 221g saying that it is pending mandatory administrative processing. And will take an average of 3 months. You will be contacted when it is completed....

What does this mean? Moe said the man that gave him the paper told him he was approved and to check back in a week with the embassy?????

I read about a 221g and this says denial??? What in the world is going on?

It looks like the standard Administrative Review/Processing notice. Did they keep his passport ?

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell how long AR might take. A *lot* of people get told 2 weeks or 1 month, but many have waited a lot longer. Overall, though, Jordan is not the worst consulate for long ARs -- some people *do* get their visa within a couple of weeks. Check the "Visas in Hand" threads in this forum for the most recent trends.

Anyway -- congrats on the interview -- sounds like everything went very well ! I hope the guy at the consulate is right and you get your visa before the end of the month !

The language on the 221g can be kind of scary -- but it's just the official standard form they always use if they do not issue the visa immediately. Almost all MENA interviewees get one of these, even when told they are approved.

Look at your 221g form closely. Marked at the bottom should be a description of what is needed -- often "Administrative Review/Processing" (this usually refers to the mandatory name/security/background checks.) Sometimes they want additional evidence -- like documents, or more photos, etc. -- and they will note that on the form. Did they indicate anything else ?

If "Administrative Review/Processing" is the only thing noted, then it most likely means the security checks.

Best of luck for a speedy finish to your process and visa in hand very soon !

Thankyou so much honey...you don't know how much you calmed me down...I was flipping out. Moe said tell this lady whoever she is thankyou--haha...b/c you would never believe me....He was saying, "honey it is fine I was successful" and I was like "no no this paper says no"....hehe...I am a nut like that :)

oh and yeah, the only thing marked is "your case is pending mandatory administrative processing. It may take an average of 3 months. You will be contacted when it is completed."

So this IS a normal thing for us MENA peeps....and it could take anywhere from weeks, months, or longer??? Is this right??

Yep, just use the time to get to know your honey better. It will be a distant memory before you know it.
