I think some people like it and others don't.

I grew up in the Middle East and I do not really have a problem with the cold. My first experience with snow was when I was sttending college in KS and the bone chilling cold was not fun. But after a while I got used to it. I like the cold, don't really mind it.

My finace gets scared sometimes when I tell him how cold it can get in Philly sometimes. He swears up and down that when he gets here we are moving to FL or TX or AZ, where there is no snow. I told him I have friends from Ghana who actually enjoy the cold and he cannot believe it. I told him he has to experience one winter before we make that decision.

See,that's what I want.A place with no snow.

The same way anyone adapts to the cold ... with time.

But I'm from upstate NY, transplanted to Florida. And I HATE the heat. Anything above 70 is too hot for me.

Okay we can switch. You come to RI and I'll go to Tampa.I love FL !

Haha! After we're doing with school we're moving somewhere colder, but have yet to figure out where.

Come to good old New England, where it's 10 below one day and 50 degrees the next.We have some very freaky weather up here.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA

Sounds just like St. Louis. We had 8 degrees and snow on a Thursday a few weeks ago. By Sunday we were at 65. That's actually a motto in St. Louis.....if you don't like the weather, just wait till tomorrow.

Haha. We will see. Mai Anh has never seen snow, but she will probably come here in the late spring, which will be much more like the weather in northern Vietnam, so she will have several months before it gets cold again in say, November or December.

We will see how she adapts to air conditioning everywhere. She says she doesn't like air conditioning, but I predict within one year, she can't live without it, like most Americans! We will see. Hahaha.

I guess I'm unique because I hate air conditioning.I find it to be too cold.

Me too! I hate it. I love the heat. I'm with you I like 85 degrees and its all good. Love the humidity vs hot dey weather that feels like its buring your skin off.

This cold just bums me out and makes my skin all ashy.

Well when I first got here in December, it was about 20F and I was freezing. I had never seen snow before and I was happy to see and play with it but I was still freezing. After Mel and I did some winter shopping it became more manageable.

I also helped myself adapt by doing a lot of outdoor activities and Mel's dad takes me to an outdoor range ever so often. When I'm finished shooting, I can fingers would be burning.

We had some higher temperatures here in Wisconsin earlier this month somewhere in the 40s and I felt comfortable going around in a t-shirt so I think I'm getting used to it. However, we'll be having some subzero temps this week going to -23F on Friday so I'll see how it goes.

You guys are quite right about the dryness. I use Vaseline: Intensive Rescue moisture locking lotion and it has worked very well. I do not know what to use for my face and scalp yet since I need something that is oil free. I'd appreciate any ideas that you can throw at me... Thanks!!!

My fiance has never seen snow before in his life.He thinks he's just going to love it because he claims he's tired of the tropics (I'm not). How have your spouses adapted to colder climates ? Did they like it or not ?

I live in Chicago. My husband thinks it is very cold. He does not complain though. He is getting use to it. In the next two years I will be moving to a warmer climate.

Reading this thread reminds me why I moved to Florida. I love the heat and my husband doesn't understand why I get cold so quickly - saying I shouldn't because I'm from NY. I tell him he shouldn't always be so hot since he's from Brazil (he's from a large city - almost 2 million) but still surrounded by the Amazon rainforest.

So we sleep with the AC and/or fan on, and then me under the comforter...

My hubby from India where it is hot hot year round, loves the cold weather. He was happy to stop sweating and start wearing a light jacket. Here in Fresno CA it doesn't snow but temps get to mid 30's to mid 50's during the winter. I HATE it!! I get cold if it gets under 75, I also don't like AC. I want to move to somewhere warmer! :crying:

California is different in different areas! It can go from below freezing and snowing (like in Mt. Shasta where my mother lives), 20 degrees more like where I am (Fresno) or 30-40 degrees difference in other areas.

I always wondered if that stuff really works.

My hubby is stuck on Lush --- Dream Cream. He swears by it.

Who knows. As soon as I told my husband that old people use Gold Bond he stayed away from it. He's silly that way. Right now he uses Jergens for Ultra Dry Skin and it seems to work pretty well, plus it doesn't smell "girly".

Remember that snow storm on December 13th? Did I tell you about that one?

Homeboy was all the way down in Coventry with the temp agency, and my father had to drive me (he's got a 4 wheel drive) from downtown Pawtucket to Smith Street to pick him up. It took us 2.5 HOURS!!!!!

He was not happy, but he was pleased once we were home and spent some time looking out the window next to the dog.

He has stopped answering the question "How are you" by saying "I'm cold" though. It's a step, but he's even taking this cold snap in stride.
