My fiance has never seen snow before in his life.He thinks he's just going to love it because he claims he's tired of the tropics (I'm not). How have your spouses adapted to colder climates ? Did they like it or not ?

My husband is from the Amazon (really) and loves cold weather - where I'm from NY and hate it. We live in FL so it's been nice most of the time. Hubby has made some comments about how cold it was a couple weeks ago but says he prefers it.

We'll see when I take him to NY next winter....

From what I've read, most people seem to adapt well enough.

Don't worry.I was born here and I still hate the cold.My fiance says he wants to run around in the snow in his underwear.

Mine is not here yet but he is freezing when it is 70 degrees there.

He thinks he knows what cold is here but  I just have to bundle him up.

I know how he feels.I'm only happy if it's 90 degrees.

Amazonas is a really nice place (state) and although not SUPER hot, it's sooooo humid that you sweat like crazy. Florida is pretty humid so it wasn't THAT big of a change....though there is some change in weather (thank God).

He really wants to see snow and feel the cold.

Haha. We will see. Mai Anh has never seen snow, but she will probably come here in the late spring, which will be much more like the weather in northern Vietnam, so she will have several months before it gets cold again in say, November or December.

We will see how she adapts to air conditioning everywhere. She says she doesn't like air conditioning, but I predict within one year, she can't live without it, like most Americans! We will see. Hahaha.

I guess I'm unique because I hate air conditioning.I find it to be too cold.

I never liked winter - not the milder version of the Netherlands nor the midwest winter. I do not mind the cold so much (means I can deal with it) but I do not like snow especially if I have to drive in it to work.

I'm from the UK and had certainly never experienced temperatures like -28C or anything. But when it does hit that low here in VT (two weeks ago and probably again any time this winter), most locals say they never get used to it either. I'm now used to temperatures like -15c and think that is a little cold rather than f-king freezing. I don't mind the mountains of snow we get, but the ice rink driveway is a real ####### to walk down. It's not hard to spot the foreigner in my town.

I think some people like it and others don't.

I grew up in the Middle East and I do not really have a problem with the cold. My first experience with snow was when I was sttending college in KS and the bone chilling cold was not fun. But after a while I got used to it. I like the cold, don't really mind it.

My finace gets scared sometimes when I tell him how cold it can get in Philly sometimes. He swears up and down that when he gets here we are moving to FL or TX or AZ, where there is no snow. I told him I have friends from Ghana who actually enjoy the cold and he cannot believe it. I told him he has to experience one winter before we make that decision.

The same way anyone adapts to the cold ... with time.

But I'm from upstate NY, transplanted to Florida. And I HATE the heat. Anything above 70 is too hot for me.

this is the way the world ends

My husband enjoyed the first snow he saw, but that was enough for him! :D He does not like cold weather at all. When it's in the 60's he wants his heavy coat. This winter seems to be better than last winter though. I think he's getting used to it.

Last year, my husband's first temps colder then about 70 and first ice/snow, he loved it. We had just 2 major snowstorms (thank God) and I had to take off one day during each, so we could out and play in it. The very first snow, he woke me at 3:30 a.m. to tell me it was snowing. I was like, yah, and it will be at 7 a.m. too. Morning came and he ran outside to make snow angels, his first attempt at a snowman, and dance around in the snow. I didn't think I was ever going to get him to stop when we went sledding.

Keep in mind, he did not have AOS or a job then.

Flash forward to this year where he has to drive and sometimes walk to the bus stop in the snow. Now, he claims it's too cold to go outside and he's freezing all the time.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
