Sorry all.. in my messy state, I hit send WAY too soon on the above post! Here is the real question:

Hi all... I need some help. My fiance and I spend A LOT of time on the phone... it is the thing that holds our life together right now. At first we had the megaphone (2500jmd), unlimited calling from jamaica to US and UK- they stopped selling their cards. So we moved to the cable and wireless phone card-1100jmd for 16 hours of talk time per month. That is not enough! We are both going crazy- I don't get to see him again until June, so I desperately need these conversations. He does not have a computer, so skype is out of the question. Any advice?

My sweetie and I phone a lot too. Her computer doesn't work, so phone, cards, and letters are our only means of communication. I use cards from comfi.com for calling T&T:

None of those cards are perfect, but most of them do offer PIN-less dialing, which I think is convenient. Of the ones they market, I'd suggest Penny Boss or Jupiter. Still not cheap :(

Yes we are in the same boat as well. However I've been using a Western Union Pre Paid Calling Card. The rates good especially to landline. You can check it out at Western Union Website. It's refillable, and you can call or refill it online.

Have you tried MiPhone credit? My SO buys the phone cards for $1200 and they can be used on the MegaPhones.

Hey melissa, me and my husband use that same 16hour plan. It used to be over 30 hours for the same price about a month or 2 ago. That was the best plan ever. We use the 16 hours pretty quick, so now we have to limit our talks. Phone cards are all about the same rate so I don't really have a good one to tell you to pick over another. We just try to text, use the 16 hours, send cards, email, and a US calling card or 2.

I hate calling cards. I have used 3U telecom for the last 4 years. It's my LD on my home phone and includes both our cells. 17 cents a minute for us, no connection fee, and they charge to the second, no rounding up to full minutes. We dial an 800 number and when promted, dial in the JA number. Have never had any connection issues of any kind. Andre used to call me when he could talk and then I would dial back thru 3U.

Best thing I ever did. Saved tons of money.

I also used Western Union and that worked wonderfully. I had also been toying with the idea of getting Netspeak. My dad uses it in Jamaica and he has a Florida number. They had a location here in Florida so I could have gotten the adapter and had a Jamaican phone number so that hubby could call me. Even though hubby is now here, I may still get the Netspeak, since his parents are still in JA and my grandparents are there as well. You could take a look at this: Netspeak in the US

I have always used pincity.com for refillable cards , bu tof lately I switch to TWC and got there international 1 plus for $19.95 a month with about 50 hours a month of talk time.

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed out?"

"You never really know a man until you have divorced him."-Zsa Zsa Gabor

"When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." Deuteronomy 24:1-2

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." - Helen Keller

"Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?" - Mary Manin Morrissey

I believe that TWC = TimeWarnerCable. They have an add-on to their digital phone for $19.95 which covers calling internationally (up to a certain number of hours per month).

I use ooma (www.ooma.com) but I had gotten the package for free when they were sending out invites, so now I don't pay anything at all for calling throughout the US - no monthly fee. Calling Jamaica costs 12.5 cents/minute to landlines - no hidden fees, etc. I buy $10 batches.
