Recommended or required doctors for medical exam?

Hello,

I apologize for posting this but I could not find this particular issue in older forums.

My fiance and I were reviewing the list of doctors for medical exam that the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro has published. The city where my fiance lives is not listed. Does this mean we have to go to one of the listed cities to do the exam? Or can we just go the family doctor we've been seing in Salvador?

Thanks.

You will have to pick one of the doctors of the list the consulate published. Only these doctors will know how to perform the medical and how to fill out the appropriate forms. A medical done by the family doctor of the intending immigrant will not be accepted.

Alot of people have to drive far to get the medical done.

You can do what my husband and a friend of ours from SSA did - wait 'til you get to Rio. We contacted Dr. Aurelio (I definetly recommend him!!!!) and I set up an appt for my husband a few days before the interview....so you'll have to wait 'til you know when it is.

The doctor verified that it was fine for my husband to have his blood tests and x-rays done in Manaus (where he's from). I e-mailed the doctor even before we knew the interview date because I knew I wanted my husband to see him for the exam. Hubby got the blood tests for free since he was a blood donor, and the x-ray because our friend is a doctor and hooked him up. We also had to ask Dr. Aurelio which vaccines hubby needed (depends on age).

We took all of that to the medical exam appt in Rio and it all worked like a charm. Aurelio's secretary's name is Tania and she's a great help.

Good luck!

unfortunately, you'll have to go to where the doctor is.

Ooooh, I wouldn't want to have the medical exam and the interview in one day - that's quite a risk.

My husband had his medical exam done 4 or 5 (I can't remember) days before the interview and that made me nervous.

Eunice lives in Barra do Jucu, Villa Vehla she is to make an Appointment in Brasilia, she lived in Brazilia for years, no docotors listed in Vitoria or Villa Vehla.

I fly back to the U|.s for a week tomorrow, while I am gone she will fly to Brasilia for the exam.

Makes it a pain and expensive to travel this distance fro a doctors exam, but what can you do.

Make another trip to the U.S. but returning on April 28 to Rio, she will fly to rio to meet me and we will go together to the interview.

We will stay at the Hotel in the Rio airport until April 30 then fly back to Vitoria together.

My job will keep me on this type schedule until the first of September.
