it may be more trouble than you want to go to for such a short visit, but if you get an Oyster card, travel cards will be cheaper (or you can use pre-pay,. which will stop charging you when you reach the cost of a travelcard)... and while there's a £3 deposit, it's returnable, which you can organise at any tube station ticket counter when you leave :)

otherwise ask for a Zones 1 and 2 travelcard (and yes - buy it after 9.30am if you possibly can; it'll be cheaper)

have fun! I love London :)

We took the 390 to the Embassy (we lived right near the route's start in Archway). BUT we were travelling at around 6.45am, with minimal traffic. Since you have a 10am interview, I would allow at least an hour, and probably more, to get there as you will be travelling down Oxford Street -- a notorious bottleneck, even in the mornings -- for much of the route, whether 390, 10 or 73. Just a tip!

If you don't mind a little bit of a longer walk (and by that I mean about an extra 10-15 minutes), your best bet is to take the Victoria line straight to Oxford Circus. Two stops, no changes, at most 10 minutes underground. If you'd like to walk down Oxford Street, the nicer shops are generally after Oxford Circus anyway (and Top Shop is right there!). If you'd like a quieter walk, you can have a jaunt through Mayfair before you get to the Embassy -- walk south on Regent Street, take a right on Brook Street or Maddox Street and you'll hit Grosvenor Square.

Just a thought! :)

don't mind walking but depends on the weather. When I lived in Glasgow city for 18months (hated it so much I came back to the country) I used to walk everywhere.

Done some investigations myself and apparently accounding to transport for london website I can get an all day zone 1 & 2 travel card for £6.80 peak time. This would be for Tube and overground.

LOL! Of course it does. I'm just getting used to the idea that it doesn't have to rain every day for six months now that I live over here. Today we have lovely fluffy flurries coming down every now and then -- caught one on my tongue. :)

Soon to be a fond memory!(?) Seriously, I always wanted to do the Caledonian Sleeper and never got around to it. It sounds fantastic!
