Today I was speaking with my husband about calling the Embassy. His interview was the December 11th and the officer told him that the AP would take 1 month. My husband also received 221(g) to get a Joint Sponsor. Additional instructions (on website and Optional Form) stipulate that my husband is to watch the Consulate website for his case number. When it appears to bring additional forms/documents to the Embassy.

It has been a month and my mom will be the Joint Sponsor.

I am ready to start calling the Department of State to find out if his case is still being processed.

I told my husband to call the Embassy in Abu Dhabi to see if he can find out his case status and send in the Joint Sponsor's Affidavit of Support. At least fax it to them.

I am nervous his case may be accidently kicked back to the US because the Joint Sponsorship papers are not at the Embassy.

My husband, however, does not want to call the Embassy...I asked him why. He said, "dear, I am an Iranian...." Like for some idea he thinks it is bad to call.

However, my thinking is..."You are just a number in a big machine." In a big, bureaucratic machine that makes a lot of mistakes. So it is better to keep on top of what is going on and keep in contact with the Embassy.

Am I right to ask my husband to call?

I agree to keep on top of things and be proactive.

You can call DOS weekly and ask for a case status update.

If your embassy accepts email you can also email them yourself aside from your SO calling them.

You can inquire if they want the other documents now.

I hope you get out of AP quickly but prepare yourself for it to take longer than you expect.

I have to agree you are right to have your Husband call on the case. Staying on top of the case is always a good thing and I don't think this is over doing it especially since you have valid questions and information. (F)

If you have the fax number for the consulate, I'd send in the extra co-sponsor and supporting docs. And one of you could follow up with a call confirming receipt.

As far as pushing him to call, that is tough. It is his case, but he probably has less experience dealing with "bureaucracy" than you. And it is your govt that needs to be contacted. He seems uncomfortable making the call, so you should probably do it.

Hope you get some info soon!

I am going to scan the original Affidavit of Support to my husband. He will call and try to fax the documents to Abu Dhabi and then later bring the originals.

THANKS EVERYONE!

Nutty hang in there...... My man is also concerned about his being Iranian. He feels his nationality is a negative when dealing with ppl from other countries, I don't know why, he just does.

I have been calling DOS almost weekly since May and have gotten to know some of them pretty well. I also email the embassy about every two months and get the same response, his case is undergoing administrative processing, when this is complete his number will appear on our website.

At least by calling you let them know you are still alive and wanting the visa and maybe, just maybe it will put a little pressure on them.

Good luck.
