As long as it's pasta, Darren will eat anything...but he's very picky about everything else...shocked and surprised that I got him to try sushi, but am even more surprised that he loved it!!!

That's my thought exactly. If he's that picky he can cook his own grub! My lovely OH makes a fab Sunday roast. I just encourage him by telling how gorgeous it is and then I don't ever have to cook it. :P Roast parsnips are my fav too. He made some amazing ones yesterday after watching Jamie Oliver's Christmas show!

Haha - Jeremy likes to experiment a bit in the kitchen - he has much more patience than I do with it!! Allrecipes.com is a great resource ;)

We should have a traditional British recipe thread - for things like perfect crackling and Yorkshire puddings :D

good idea jeraly! I will start one but I don't have any recipes to add to it. I tried to have neil cook once...it was pretty bad but I told him it was good because I wanted him to do it again. I have to beg him to cook. he thinks since he is married to a chef that cooking isn't required!

We like to do Cornish Game Hens. They are a little bit different then chicken. Taste the same just a little different then a typical roast bird. If you have big eaters do one bird per...personally half is plenty for me. I find them fairly inexpensive but I normally have a smaller group...

We did them for Chris' parents last week when they were visitng from the UK. They loved them.

Roasted them with an apricot and mustard glaze then did a gravy from the drippings. Oh my gosh it was fantastic. The gravy was just amazing. Really savory, not sweet really at all.

LOVE roasted 'nips like Mags. Really into roasting veggies at the moment.

If you get a nice peice of beef (I used lamb) cut potatos( dress with the tiniest bit of oil) and place the roast on top of it and cook as normal it is fantastic. I always add a bit of rosemary which pairs well with lamb. Then you can add aspargus(sp) about 10 minutes or less before it is finished. YUM.

Crock Pots are fantastic things for crowds. They have all sorts of up dated recipes for them now. I did a lasagna in it a few weeks back. Turned out very good. Also a Chicken and dumplings was a hit with my brit-n-laws.

Just add a side salad with either.

You could do a beef stew in the crock out and then make british style pancakes. That is always a meal that we eat when I visit my in-laws!

I am sure there is a traditional recipe thread. We've had a few in the past. I know I either started on or contributed quite a bit....
