Dear Visajourney users and members,

I posted a question a couple of days ago, on this forum and from the answer I got, I am coming to realize that I might have to spend the next 6 months "waiting" or "killing time" before I can be reunited with my sweet...

I am trying to understand if there wouldn't be a way to make this wait a bit less painful, and it would be great if anybody could give me their opinion on the following:

We really want to get married, while at the same time I would like to start studying again, and the program I am thinking of is a distance-learning program which requires me to be on campus 2 weeks only, then I can be wherever I want.

I was thinking, if I were to have an employer back in my country (France), that would provide me with an official document stating that I have a job back in France which requires me to come back to after the 2 weeks of study, would that be a reason for the consulate to agree to grant me the student visa? (and would convince the officer at the POE, very important!!) the problem with my visa being that because I won't need to stay on campus, I will be living again at my fiance's, and they might see this as a risk of me trying to stay in the US fraudulently.

On top of that, we would like to file the petition for the fiancee visa...

Does this make any sense?

If it doesn't I can try to explain better, but please tell me what you think!!

THANK YOU!!!

Do you intend to go back to France, to that job, after 2 weeks in the US?

If you want to apply for the fiance visa, i dont think its possible to apply for a student one as well.

I would suggest waiting, as we all have had to to reunite with our sweethearts. Also, since the course you want to take is only two weeks long, I would not reccomend applying for that student visa, then going there and getting married because due to the short time you were there, it would look like you used the visa to get married. I am not saying this is what you are implying, or if you plan to come back after the two weeks, I am just letting you know. I would not use a student visa as an excuse to make the wait "less painful". We all have had to kill time and wait, it's just the way it is.

Is it my imagination, or is it always the younger Visa Journeyans who can't bear the thought of living apart from their fiance for another minute?

From the time my now DH proposed to me to the day we were married it was five YEARS! It took so long that it didn't seem like it was ever going to happen but eventually the pieces fell into place. Six months is such a short piece of time in the scale of your life. Have patience and use it to make your relationship stronger... look on it as a test that you have to pass to prove how deep your love is. There are lots of ways to keep in touch with each other - get LOTS of phone cards and use the computer and write to each other and send photos and emails and little gifts... Your time will come soon enough.
