Spanking scientist gets to the bottom of patient's problems

A Russian scientist caused a stir this week when he announced to colleagues at Novosibirsk Institute of Medicine that his research clearly shows beating patients on the naked buttocks with a cane is the perfect way to cure everything from depression to alcoholism.

Strangely enough, Dr Sergei Speransky appears to be a well respected member of Russia's scientific community and has written a report on the 'treatment' entitled: 'Pain affliction as a method of treatment for addictive behavior and other manifestations of non-vitalistic activity'.

Earlier this week, Dr Speransky met with reporters to explain his theory behind the unusual method. According to the good doctor, an old fashioned bare-bottomed spanking releases endorphins, the body's natural 'happy chemicals'.

Apparently, a good caning can help patients overcome depression and other problems associated with various additions. He recommends a standard treatment of 30 sessions. When asked whether the treatment actually works, Dr Speransky replied, "Sure it does. I haven't felt depressed since I started doing it!"

His colleague Dr Marina Chuhrova, who helped prepare the report, appears to be particularly popular with the male volunteers at the medical research center and now has several patients she canes on a regular basis.

"They really seem to enjoy it", she told reporters. "They obviously must be feeling some benefit because they keep asking for more."

The Russian pair intend to capitalize on their findings and are now charging approximately $90 per patient for a standard canning session.

HAHAHAHAH me don't thinks so Was funny how it happened. I applied over the phone for what I thought was a normal every day receptionist positition. The ad in the paper had been very limited in info and was under the main heading of casual positions vacant. I called and the person I needed to speak to was unavailable so I made an appointment for an interview. When I pulled up out the front.....I looked and thought hmmmmmmmmm. Sat there for quite some time before taking a deep breath and walking in...more out of curiousity by that stage as I thought....'NO WAY'. Had the interview....she showed me around and asked when I could start. I went home....burst into laughter when the kids asked how the interview went. Told them where it was....they laughed. Said I wasnt taking the job.....They said 'why not, its a job....and could be interesting'. They basically talked me into. It was an interesting job to say the least but 3 months was enough. The hours were crappy and the pay not so good. Still, I learnt a lot hahahahaha
