I just received my interview letter and I am really happy about that but I have a question about the process. When I had my fingerprints done, I was very nervous because the scores were low and I guess I just don't have good fingerprints (that is what the lady said) but I have now received the interview letter. If the fingerprints were rejected by the FBI, do you know if they would have gone ahead and sent the interview letter or should I expect to receive another notification to have the fingerprinting re done because they were rejected?

If FBI is still working on name checks at time of interview, they tend to approve pending FBI name check.

If FBI has problems with fingerprints they will request them retaken.

I-751 (removing conditions on residency):

December 17, 2006: Sent I-751 to NSC

December 27, 2006: NOA1 date

January 20, 2007: Biometrics appointment

January 29, 2008: Card production ordered

February 5, 2008: New card received.

N-400 (Citizenship):

December 18, 2007: Sent N-400 to NSC

December 19, 2007: Received date & Priority date

December 26, 2007: Notice date - 100 days

January 24, 2008: Biometrics appointment

February 25, 2008: Interview notice received

May 28, 2008: Interview (Chicago, IL) - PASSED

June 24, 2008: Oath letter received

July 1, 2008: Oath ceremony, application for US Passport filled at local post office

July 11, 2008: Passport received.

Is the highlighted portion above still true for Naturalization applications? I would think they'd wait until all checks and verification processes are complete before calling one for the interview (and test).

Yes, I know. I was really surprised when I saw what the notification was for. I told my husband: Oh, oh, we have a USCIS envelope here... I really thought that it maybe was related to my pending I751 or something but it was a great surprise when it was the interview letter...

Congratulations on such a quick journey through N400 process!

I think that if your fingerprints weren't acceptable to FBI you's have heard before being called to interview.

I've been called back for a fingerprint re-do, letter said "FBI were unable to read your fingerprint card".

Congratulations with interview letter!

about second biomentrics, i was called twice for Removal of conditions, and the second time i just did a walk-in on Wednesday 20 days earlier then my second appointment. read about it in the link in my signature, try that if you can

10/28/09 - interview date email came at 6.30 pm, no AVR changes yet

10/30/09 - AVR: "Case sent to embassy on Oct 29" = total 4 months from delivery of i130 to USCIS

Just as an aside -- and just to rant a bit -- I think it's completely ridiculous how many times we have to provide our fingerprints during this process. I mean, fingerprints don't exactly change do they?! My husband looked into it (he read the Ombudsman's report, pretty damning stuff) and it turns out that the various organizations don't actually share fingerprint databases. How stunningly incompetent... :wacko:

09-03-1999: Arrive in US on F1 visa - later changed to J1 after graduation

09-04-1999: Met future hubby (still can't agree on which pub we met in)

10-23-2003: Got engaged!

10-24-2003: Submitted I-129F visa petition to VSC - approved 12-17-03

The reason for the so many fingerprints we need to provide is that they only stay in their database for like 1 1/2 years or 2 years (I can't remember) according to the person who took my last fingerprints. It seems to be a matter of storage space. But I agree, for example, I went for my second I751 fingerprinting in July 07 and I went for the Naturalization fingerprinting in Dec 07, only 6 months apart. They should link a person's fingerprint to the person's alien number so that it can be used for multiple applications if the fingerprints have not expired. That may mean one less step in the process.

just a thought because your i-751 is still pending so they might expedited your citizenship process so that you be intervied for both petetions.

That is what I am hoping for. I have read cases where this was the situation.

i think they fingerprint on N400 to make sure it'd not fraud and you are actually the person who was originally giver Green Card

and they fingerprint for Removal of status to verify that you are same person who got visa initially

they fingerprint at embassy and then at border to verify nobody stolen your visa and illigally entering country
