That's just one of those things I don't particularly care for. Got the breakfast all ready to go and then the coffee maker wouldn't work. Damn thing is just dead. Worked fine yesterday and today, not a breath left in that darn thing. So, I had to brew my coffee the old fashioned way. That was actually nice 'cause it was very tasty. But I don't have the time to do the old fashioned coffee brewing during the week.
I guess it's time to go to Wal-Mart. LOL

They have coffee makers elsewhere. ;)

If you're into coffee, you'd love Nani's traditional cup of coffee. She starts making coffee with green coffee beans that she roasts fresh. Takes a bit of time to make but that coffee seriously rocks!

Ok.. I'm officially jealous now. Only good coffee like that was when I was down in Ecuador. Small shop in Cuenca.... ah... damn good stuff!

Why would I go to Starbucks if I need coffee? All I have ever found at Starbucks is a coffee-like substance that seems to be made from burned (as opposed to roasted) coffee beans. Starbucks ain't for me.

another good point. my hate of starbucks knows no limits. nasty burnt oily stuff .

my coffee maker did that to me a few months ago. Just stopped working. Which was seriously sad, because I had set the timer before I went to bed, woke up in the morning and there was the machine, just sitting on the counter staring at me, no coffee. I had to go to work that morning without any coffee :(

So far the new one seems to be working ok. They just don't seem to last as long as they used to do they? I had one that lasted me more than 10 years, and since that one died about 3 years ago, I think I've bought 3 or 4 coffee machines.

Try and find yourself a decent Ethiopian restaurant in your area (the larger cities typically have at least one) and see if they offer traditional coffee ceremonies there. That's one way you can get the good stuff around here. The other way is to befriend Habesha folks.

You know, the one that died today was one of the fancier ones. Before that, I had the $10.00 coffee maker that I bought at Target some 3 years ago and it was still in working condition when I tossed it. The glass pot just had a crack which is why I ditched the whole thing.

You should. Ethiopia is, after all, the place where coffee originated - in the Kaffa region of Ethiopia to be precise. They take that very seriously.

My coffee maker is doing fine, she had it ready when I got up and she's good for at least another 40 years before I need a replacement. You sure get your monies worth out of those import models. LOL

Your dishwasher still in good shape, too? Same import model, I guess?

I admit to being a coffee addict. I also admit to being rather grouchy without my coffee. I didn't realize how bad it was till I arrived at work one morning to see my boss driving away in a squeal of gravel. When I went in, the coffee machine was (gasp) gone! The horror! Twenty minutes later, my boss returned with a brand-new coffee machine. Seems when he got in to the office, the machine had died and he was so afraid of me not getting my caffeine fix, he raced out to Walmart to buy a new one! Kinda scarey, huh?

I know that I can't go to work w/o being properly caffeinated. Never have and never will. Wouldn't be fair to my staff.

Okay, this is freaky: It being orthodox Easter and all, I personally witnessed an actual resurrection. That of my late coffee maker. It's breathing once again. I was gonna take it out with the garbage just now and thought to plug it back in one last time - just for the heck of it. And there it was breathing again. Displaying the time, popping those little lights on, turning on and off and all that good stuff.

It's alive.

It's a miracle. :o
