Maybe I'm just grumpy this morning....but I just don't understand why another medical is needed for the AOS process. What was the purpose of the medical for the K-1? I swear....two more passport photos...why not just have 20 made at the very beginning of this process! Sigh...I'm reading the AOS requirements this morning. Bleh! It just seems like there's some repetivitve paperwork here...when the same information could be used from the K-1 petition.

Like I said...maybe I'm just grumpy...we had storms last night and I didnt sleep well at all... :(

Hey Grumpy! Have some coffee first! Here I also brought some Krispy cremes for you

I don't think a medical is needed for AOS (unless you get RFEd then you better do it.) You just need the vaccination supplement at this point - I693. As for pictures, I do believe they want recent pictures each time -(they might match these against the ones caught on tape last week in bank robberies etc.) good Luck

you Do Not need to endure a second medical if the medical you had for your K1 was less than one year ago at the time you file your AOS. If all of your vaccinations were completed at your K1 medical, you do not even need to send a vaccination supplement, because its already in the first medical folder.

If your K1 medical was more than 1 year ago, you'll need to have another.

If for some stupid reason you get RFE'd requesting for a medical exam, get your state senator involved. We did, and they discovered that USCIS had "misplaced" my original medical folder and at the insistance of the Immigration Liase, found that I was indeed, not required to endure a second.

No you are being realistic. It really stinks to have to continually gather the same paperwork, submit the same affadavit of support and have the passport photos taken time and time again. Sear's Portrait Studio usually will give you four pics for about $19.95. I have about 46 days to do this. USCIS has no regard for people who work or attend school. I was told the Civil Surgeon may cost me $500.00 because no insurance will cover the exams.

So I filed their AOS October 6, 2005 and their medical exams were June of 2005. I am in good shape? I am American and I find this all too confusing imagine if a foreigner has to do this on their own.

:) My coffeemaker died today...but I'll gladly take the KK's! I do believe I have some milk in the fridge...

I guess I just don't need to try to understand the USCIS before I have completely woken up or at least had some decent coffee (I guess it's a trip to Wal-Mart for me). Thanks for making me smile :)

You're good to go. It was less than 1 year from the medical exam til you filed their AOS applications. Unless their vaccinations were not completed at the medical and turned in at POE in their brown envelopes, they should not need any further expenses or medical paperwork.

i have the same complaints!! i'm going through the same dilemna with the medical I-693A thing. my fiance just had hers done 2 months ago before the K1 interview in thailand. now i'm trying to figure out how to obtain copies of the shots and medical exam that they gave her there.

Her doc should have given her a copy of DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet) when the medical was done. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen.

You take the DS-3025 to a civil surgeon in the US and they will complete the I-693A (vaccine supplement). As said above, shop around for this service - you can easily be overcharged.

Are all adjustment of status applicants required to have a medical examination?

Most applicants for adjustment of status are required to have a medical examination. The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS. The examination must be documented using Form I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status.

EXCEPTIONS:

2. Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

No doubt, seems it never ends, the same stuff over and over again (good reason to keep your immigration paperwork orderly). I am desperately hoping that N-400 is the last immigration document we ever had to file and I will *never* have to dig through evidence again!

Another medical shouldn't be necessary if the AOS is less than a year from when the medical before the interview occurred. You might need the supplemental vaccination if you don't have an offical record from your doctor. Good luck

It may be but may be not! After 30 years of being a US citizen I am not sure if I want to live here. I have to check in with Costa Rica regulations in a little bit. I may dive into their stuff in the next year or so. Yes, it may never end! Good Luck

That exception rule is what i told the immigration lady plus I also had my vac suppliment in hand as well and she still told me she couldnt see my HIV tests and so on so she wanted a full medical done on all of us even though we had done the medical 4 months prior to entry to the US seems they are making alot of us do this even though we enter doing medicals in our own country. Just revnue raising for doctors I supose those poor doctors arnt getting paid enough to eat a decent meal LOL
