My husband's residency was approved on Tues, 1/8 - does this mean his green card should be mailed? The IO didn't say anything and when I asked if we should assume the green card would be on its way, she told me never to assume. She did stamp his passport (valid for a year) but I don't want him to carry his passport with him.

Also, we went to the DMV yesterday and they took his temporary DL and gave him only a paper until his new DL comes in the mail. So he doesn't have a picture ID besides the passport.

You wait and check the mail. Hopefully the next thing you see from USCIS will be his green card. If not, proceed as appropriate based on what you see in the mail. In the meantime, if he needs to carry picture ID, your "want" in that regard will have to take a back seat.

Congrats on the approval Bora Bora!

I'm sure everything will be allright  Does he still have his EAD with him or did they take that before the interview? That's a good photo ID if he still has it.

Saludos,

Caro

They cut a corner off his EAD and kept it. I found the first Florida ID he got (before his DL) and told him to hold onto that for now, along with the paper/temporary DL the DMV gave him. He also has a Bank of America debit card with his picture on it too.

I'll make a copy of his passport tomorrow.

I guess my main question was when should he be expecting his green card to arrive in the mail? There are no updates on-line...it still says that his AOS is pending since May 8th!

Bora Bora, we were approved Friday and no notice online yet either. We are going to wait 2 weeks before worrying/thinking. You got the stamp which is 1up from us so you're good.

Bradcanuk,

You're right. I'm not worried - I just wanted to have some kind of idea...hoping that just because she stamped hubby's passport for a year, it won't take that long  .

Thanks for the replies and congratulations to you!
