What if I-864 sponsor drops below income requirements?

Just curious what happens if, after a sponsor (me) files an I-864, the sponsor's income drops below the 125% poverty line. Is there any extra steps that need to be taken to maintain immigration status for the intending immigrant? (ie - getting a co-sponsor) My question is regarding both before and after the green card is issued.

Thank you for any input.

I see you haven't filed the I864 yet so I'm not sure why you are asking.

After the greencard is approved it doesn't matter. But before it does matter - especially before filing.

Thanks, RebeccaJo. That's what I thought. I asked since I might be transitioning jobs this year sometime and will have a period of low (zero) income, with no cosponsor.

Ah, ok. That could be tricky!

Is this going to be a positive transition or do you know yet? That answer might tell you how to prepare your affidavit.

Don't know yet (And I'd give it a 40% chance of happening). Just want to be prepared if it happens. We're planning for a marriage in March or April with AoS filing soon after. If I transition jobs, it'd likely be around August/September :-s

Well, you can't plan for every eventuality. Gotta live, you know?

If I were still employed when I was ready to file, I'd just file that way. You cannot predict the future. Any of us could get hit by a bus tommorow, you know? :P

You might want to have a co-sponsor lined up in case you are interviewed and lose your job in the meanwhile.

That's why I play it safe, and spend time on VisaJourney, rather than crossing streets! :-D

Thanks for the input, rebeccajo. It's appreciated

Um....sorry for the 'bad taste' scenario. It's an old expression we use around here. B)
