yeah labels are not always easy to use.

This post is about "metal albums" but does it refer to only heavy metal and black metal or all the subcategories of metal? like heavy, black, death metal, nu metal, symphonic metal, gothic metal, doom, industrial, etc...

Based on what the OP posted, I am fairly sure the answer is just any metal. Just because the OP didn't include bands of certain genres didn't mean they were excluded, rather perhaps they just aren't his thing or his favorite as he might put on a list or maybe they just didn't come to mind. Who knows, but I think people are reading way too much into the fact that certain subgenres are missing. Just post whatcha like. I think we can agree what isn't metal at all:

Anyway, Nine Inch Nails and Type O Negative rock! ;)

Yes, I'd say any type of "metal" goes... Namely because I don't want to have the discussions about the differences between them (which usually turn into mild arguments). ie - "What do you mean, DevilDriver isn't death metal?!"... "Hooray Headbanger's Ball for real metal".... etc, etc...

Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, etc. are all good stuff. Not all of it is considered true heavy metal.

I got burned out on the stuff I grew up on as a teenager. Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, James Gang, Guess Who, The Who, Steppenwolf, etc., etc. Every once in a while I dig out my old vinyl to listen.

ohhhhh...now here's my thing! I'm such an old hippy  Good times <sigh>

No Slipknot? Nine Inch Nails? Tool?

 he said metal steven.

No PANTERA? Down? Seputura?

men, I was totally addicted to Pantera when I was 15. I knew every song by heart.

I also used to listen to Metallica, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Nirvana, Ramones, if those are considered metal, I don't know :P

My hubsand likes:

Meshuggah...

Sikth...

Paradise Lost...

Cryptopsy...

Plus most...if not all of the bands already listed.

He's a huge metal fan...me, I can handle some of it. But I love, Love, Love to watch him play drums.

*drools* Yeah - I need to get Jeremy into playing drums... Purely because it would be.... *tries to think of some excuse* Oh ok - just cause it's hot

I don't own many albums... I did try and indoctrinate my little bro when he was about 5 though (he's 20 now)... Made him a compilation tape of Iron Maiden, Metallica etc... now he's a HUGE Maiden fan and a complete metalhead with goth tendencies (it's an image thing- he's like a 14 year old )

Remember first listening to Fear of the Dark album when I was about 13/14 and thinking it just sounded like screaming... it is one of the albums I actually own now

Thought I'd stand up with Mags for us girlies :)

*giggle* IT is hot! Actually the drums are really what introduced us...long story but I guess secretly I had a thing for drummers~

We are currently building a studio for him so he can record and send things to his band in England. He is a spoiled boy.

But I have noticed like someone else mentioned that the metal GIRLheads are typically with their boys at the shows. I know I typically am standing right next to mine. He looks like he could be dangerous..6ft7 tends to ward people off. I guess what people don't know is he is a big teddy bear!!! I am the one they don't want to bother!! :hehe:

I think for most of them it is more a look than anything else. My husband is not as tall as yours, but still fairly imposing. He is about as far from violent as it gets though, romantic, and very sweet. Most people wouldn't assume that though.
