We're moving to Florida in a few weeks (near Deerfield Beach) and I was wondering about that area..all the good places to eat, schools, transportation, etc. Any other floridians out there?

me: US, soon-to-be ex: Sweden

Our Journey

09/25/97--met online

'97-'99---carried on long distance relationship

02/14/99---married in the US

10/23/99---received swedish residence permit

12/02/99---moved to Sweden

03/21/01---filed I-130; no visa given

06/27/02--visa interview; denied told to file I-601 for CIMT

9/12/05--visa interview; submitted 601 to Stockholm, Sweden

10/06/05----waiver forwarded to DHS; Copenhagen, Denmark

10/11/05---waiver entered into the DHS system

12/15/05---waiver finally mailed to London; rc'd snaily from ICE (12/16/05)

01/03/06----DHS London finally receives waiver; let the adjudication begin!

Jan. 25 06---LONDON APPROVES WAIVER!!!

02/02/06---sent passport off to embassy to receive visa

02/06/06---rc'd passport w/visa and infamous brown envelope

02/25/06----spouse immigrated to Florida..Miami POE, no probs!

03/14/06----spouse received social security card

03/17/06----spouse received green card!

03/12/06----Finally back in the US after 7 long years!

08/20/06--We separate after almost 8 years of marriage

06/09/07---still separated.....probably filing for divorce in August

Live close to Deerfield beach.... Ft. Lauderdale actually.

For schools, if for kids go to this sight, gives you more info on the schools and their ratings http://www.browardschools.com/schools/

Transportation in South Florida really sucks....... There is a bus system that from what I hear is not the easiest to use, takes forever to get anywhere and buses always running late. A car unfortunately is a must.

Can't help on good eating places in Deerfield, but Las Olas Blvd. close to downtown Ft. Lauderdale is a great area with alot of good restaurants. Probably about 30 mins. from Deerfield

Just remember, bring your hurricane supplies and shutters, for some reason we seem to needing them here lately.

K-1 Adventure

9/04 - 2/06

Met in Peru, Engaged, Successful I-129F, K-1 interview and Married

AOS / EAD / AP and Remove Condition

3/06/06 - AOS/EAD/AP process begins

3/31/06 - AOS/EAD/AP package Fed Ex'd to Chicago

4/03/06 - AOS/EAD/AP package signed & received

4/10/06 - NOA1's received for AOS, EAD and AP via U.S. Mail

4/11/06 - All 3 checks cashed / $745.00 poorer but worth every penny

4/27/06 - Receive Biometrics appointment letter scheduled for 5/11/06

5/11/06 - Biometrics completed

6/02/06 - Receive notice that AOS only has been transferred to California to speed things along

6/07/06 - E-mail that AOS received in California

6/13/06 - Welcome letter mailed by California... yeah baby

6/17/06 - Official welcome letter received and card will arrive within 3 weeks

6/19/06 - Card arrived in the mail.......

3/08/07 - Trip back to Peru for 10 days and our Religous Wedding

3/2007 - We're Pregnant

12/19/07 - Sebastien Joshua born 8:29am 7lbs 2oz 19.5"

3/14/08 - I-751 Removing Condition is in the mail

3/20/08 - Checked cashed

3/17/08 - I-751 Package signed and received

3/24/08 - Case moved to Vermont

4/17/08 - Biometrics completed

4/21/08 - Touched...........

6/16/08 - Touched once again........

11/3/08 - Touched again.. this is begining to feel good

I am a Floridian, but I am in Orlando and not very familiar with Deerfield beach...sorry, but if you have any questions about Orlando, feel free to ask. :D

10/25/2005 - I-129F packet mailed to TSC

11/03/2005 - NOA 1 from CSC

11/07/2005 - Check cashed

02/03/2006 - NOA2 by e-mail

05/03/2006 - Leave for Jamaica

05/09/2006 - Interview "VISA APPROVED"

05/15/2006 - Return from Jamaica

05/22/2006 - Called off the wedding and Adrian left

We will be in Jacksonville -so sorry we cannot help you out there, but Jaxs is drop down dead gorgeaus, so if you are ever in that area, look us up!!!!!!!

I'm Floridian :D but hubby and I live north central state between Ocala and Gainsville. I'm not familiar with deerfield at all. Prepare to sweat during the summer :crying:

Ya know.......I can handle the sweating...but them there breezes Florida gets, I'm a little more then worried about :unsure:
