After discovering that my case was not going to get approved in 3 months like they told me,I decided to call Jack Reed's office.I have received several letters from him regarding my case but that's the extent of it.Has anyone received help from their congressman ? (D-RI)

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!

Your congressman can't really help you until you've reached the 6 month mark for processing, which it looks like you have. If you read through some threads here you'll see that there are several member still waiting from May/June/July 2007 without approvals. Those with the oldest cases have all reached out to their congressperson and thus far have not had any success. You'll find a lot of support and others in the same boat in the "Waiting for an approval VSC" thread. I wish you and all the others still waiting all the best.

Thanks for your kind comments.I called Senator Reed's office today and his secretary told me that my case is still under review by an adjudicator. :content:

A congressman can only put an inquiry into your case. I hope you get an approval soon.

I have my congressman involved to find out where my case is.

we'll see if there is anything he can do.i will let you know.

but i think it is good to get your congressman or senator involved if you are having problems,

just so they can see, what hell we citizens go thru to bring our loved ones here to be with us.

maybe by doing so,they will be instrumental in helping change the way things are done here at USCIS, if not for us,maybe at least for those

who will have to go through this nightmare in the future.

I wrote to my congressman...and heres what i got back:

"Your Email was referred to me for review. We sincerely understand you and your husband's desire to be reunited. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service processes hundreds of thousands of petitions and/or applications like yours. I have been able to determine that your I-130, Petition for Relative and your I-129F, Petition for K3 visa are both pending at the California Service Center (CSC). They are just now beginning to work on any applications/petitions filed June 18, 2007; therefore, your's are in that batch and are ready for adjudication. While we know you are anxious to be reunited as a family, the CSC processes applications in the order they are received as they deem that the fairest since most anyone filing these types of petitions are doing so to be reunited with a family member.

While Mr. Herger often makes inquiries to federal agencies in behalf of his constituents, members of Congress cannot control or circumvent the workload upon the USCIS. We can assure you that as a U.S. Citizen your applications are addressed sooner than a Permanent Resident applying for a family member. It is simply a matter of workload, or in other words, a matter of the volume of applications/petitions that have been received. Sometimes the workload is lighter and thus processing time is shorter. If any of a number of the 535 members of Congress were allowed to make special arrangements for their constituent's applications to be processed sooner than those filed earlier, the processing centers would be in chaos and many individual's applications would never proceed to completion. Thus, again, the USCIS deems it the fairest to take all applications in order they have been received with very few exceptions."

Not much help at all!!!!! :(

Good luck

God Bless (L)
