Question about police certificates and getting the interview

Originally we were planning to have several more months to finish up my visa application, but we are suddenly going to be made homeless in March so we are going to try and have it so my visa is done by then so we can just move to the US instead of into another place here *fingers crossed*

I was silly and have dilly dallied before getting my police certificate thing going. The letter went off yesterday, so I'm guessing I have 40 days before that comes back. In the meantime I can file DS-230 part 1, get my vaccinations I'm missing (posting and getting jabbed today), and then once my passport is back from the police book the medical. To save time, can I then tell them I'm ready a little before my police certificate thingy is back, as I'm assuming it will be several weeks before they actually give me an appointment? Too risky?

Am I being unrealistic that we can actually get my visa finished in a short space of time? We've been married 10 years and have 2 young kids (and I've been a permanent resident before) so I'm pretty confident that there won't be any "is this a real relationship" issues. I'd really like us to be on a plane the day after we hand the keys in here!

Looking at your signature, I don't think that it's unreasonable that you could have your visa done by March - you're already halfway through - but you'd need to send in the paperwork now.

There is a little lag time in London when it comes to scheduling the interview date. It took us several weeks - almost a whole 40 days! - to be scheduled. However, once we were scheduled...the interview was ten days away. No joke. We found out last week that the interview was next week!

Were I in your position, I would send off for the police certificate (which I see you've done) and submit the dS-230 and checklist now. If the certificate doesn't come before the interview, all they will do is approve or deny pending that certificate, and you can send it over when you get it. There is always the chance that the certificate could come before the interview; if it doesn't, it's not the world's biggest tragedy, just means a little extra waiting!

good luck! I think you'll be fine.

You could luck out on the scheduling front. We included a letter saying we would like an interview as soon as possible, and we had the actual interview, not just the notice!, just under three weeks after mailing the DS-230 and DS-2001.
