I layed my mother to rest today, she passed away on Sunday evening after a long illness. I cannot describe the grief I feel, she was everything to me. Friend, nurturer, keeper of secrets. My mother was the one I would go to whenever something heavy was weighing on my mind, or when I just needed the warmth of her smile. I can't remember the number of times someone has told me that I look just like my mom, my response would always be "thank you". Though she would never have won a beauty contest, she was beautiful to me. I will miss the fun we had together, the oddball things we would do. I remember going to Meijer at 4am to play on the excersise machines and dance in the aisles, the employess on the late shift had to think we were drunk, but we were just having fun. No, we didn't always get along, what mother/daughter ever do? But, I knew at the end of the day that she loved me, and she knew my feelings were the same. I was one of the last people she recognized the night she passed, in her few last lucid moments. When she passed, I was standing at her side, holding her hand and my other hand resting on her heart. That may seem strange to some, but to know that I held that beautiful heart in my hand for just a moment, means more to me than I can ever say.

My husband, what can I say about my husband? That he has a wisdom and strenght of understanding far beyond his 29 years. He never left my side for a moment. He held my hand, he wiped my tears, he was my legs when mine would not hold me up. He was my mind when I could not make a coherent thought. If not for him, I would not have made it through these last days. He did not know my mother for very long, or very well, her illness prevented that from occuring, but she could make him laugh whenever they did visit together. He had the opportunity to meet her two sisters at the funeral home, and was amazed at how similar in looks the three of them were.

He paid the highest compliment I think I have ever heard. He simply said " The women in your family, they are such good women".

I will miss my mother greatly, I regret that she and my children didn't have more time together, that she couldn't have the opportunity to know my husbadn better, he is a good man. Her suffering is over now, and she can rest in peace, never to know pain again. I am thankfull for that. It tears my heart out that I will never see that beautifull face again, or hear her voice, her laughter. I will never be able to turn to her again for her wisdom, her thoughts, or just a hug.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

(F)

I'm happy to read that your husband is there for you to help you deal with this loss.

I hope you will always remember the good times that you had with your mother and that they will always be able to make you smile. :luv:

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

My heart goes out to you Tammy, I know what it feels like to lose someone so near and dear to your heart, as you know my husband died in 2004. my thoughts to you sis is to just take things day by day, it will get better. I'm not saying that the pain ever goes away but you do learn to cope with it. I'm just so happy that Ibrahim is there for you and also your wonderful sons. They will be your rock through all of this. My prayers are with you and your family. Inshallah you will find your legs again and stand strong. Just remember all the good times you had with your mother and I know there will be times you will laugh just thinking about the great memories and funny moments you had with her. She is not really gone from you sis, she is still here watching over you and loving you. If you ever need to talk you know how to get a hold of me. (F)

I am truly sorry to hear of your mother's passing. May God extend His comfort and mercy to you and your family.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
