pri,

Why Evan wants to know the A# has nothing at all to do with where he might find it.

Hello All,

Does anybody know where I might locate my alien fiance's "A" number? On petition? NOA? K-1 visa? Thanks.

Peace, Evan

Evan,

Your fiancee has an A# - one was assigned to her when you submitted your I-129f petition for her. The VSC puts the A# on the Receipt Notice - do you still have that?

The consulate in Bangkok does not put the A# on the visa, but if they still have Maew's file readily available maybe they can check the file and tell you what her A# is. If it's not too inconvenient for you, why not pay a visit during US Citizen Service hours to ask if they can help you out? Maybe there's even something in the file that you can use in lieu of your Approval Notice for I-485 purposes?

I also did not recieve an Approval Notice for my I-129f petition for my wife. (I suspect that one may never have been sent, since the Online Status says to this day that the petition has been received and I will be notified when a decision has been made.) Not having the Approval Notice, we submitted a copy of the NVC notice, a copy of the Online Status notice, and a letter explaining why she was submitting these notices instead of the I-797 Approval Notice. Saved me $200.

Hello All,

Thanks for the responses. My fiance received her visa on Feb. 3. She and I both live over seas and will not be entering the US until March 16, 2006, so maybe we don't have the number yet. The reason for the need of the "A" number is that we never received NOA2, which is required as part of the documentation for AOS. I am now going to fill out an I-824 form which is a request for a duplicate approval notice. One of the questions on the I-824 asks for the "A" number. It also says that if you don't have one or don't know what it is, to leave the question field blank, which is what I have done. I was just curious because I am sure at some point we will need to know what and where this number is. Unfortunately the I-824 costs $200 to file :( .

Thanks, Evan
