OMFG! Seriously? Why?

A lot of Republicans despise McCain - they think he's not conservative enough. Then he aligned himself with Bush's handling of Iraq.

check out his position on illegals ;)

But how could Hillary possibly be better??

it's more like she can't be any worse. mccain wants to give carte blanc to them.

They're about on the same page on that issue.

Can you imagine the kind of justices Hillary would appoint to the SCOTUS? It would probably become illegal to have a ####### LOL.

Nnnnooo! No jokes like that.

But anyway, ok, if Hillary and McCain are equal on immigration, wouldn't, say, the REST of Hillary's views bother you enough to keep you voting for McCain? I don't understand that at all.

I will vote for Guilliani or McCain even if they are not 100% to my liking. I'll even put the signs in my yard make the phone calls and the canvasing that is what I do. I cannot allow another Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the court. Period!

Alex, there's an element of irrational, knee-jerk loathing that (some) conservatives have for McCain.

I thought they also had that for Hillary though.

Is it still irrational if you turn out to be right?

It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Rove is still playing the Hillary-would-be-good-for-Republicans thing I guess.

Well, in both IA and NH, Obama won among independents and Hillary won among registered Democrats. Any Dem candidate that has that kind of pull among independents is a threat to a GOP candidate that does not.

Yep. I'm of the opinion that a Hillary win means the Dems are screwed, as all those independents will be voting for McCain (unless it's not him, and then who knows). An Obama win might mean the opposite.

if it comes down to hillary and mccain, i'm voting for hillary. i loathe mccain.

Shameful, Charles... :P

I don't know many Repubs who hate McCain, but then again I don't go around talking politics very much or know many very politically involved people. But I still don't understand why you'd want to vote for Hillary instead. Oh how many years we would have to hear about how great Bill's presidency was and how she is back to reclaim all that was lost, to put the name of Clinton back into it's rightful place, bla bla bla... :help: It's time for the Bush and Clinton dynasties to move on.
