Whereabouts are you in canada? And Spouse in USA?? You stated hundreds of miles. You could visit, noting illegal with entering the USA while the process is ongoing. You may be denied, you may not be! Lot of people worry about be denied, but in my opionion (and only an opinion) the chances are not that great in being denied(Speaking Cdns) travelled monthly to DC and never had a problem! just my 2 cents! best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I would also do some serious tracking down on the status of your visa application. If the USCIS and/or State Dept cant/wont give you any valid information, then go to the local US Representative, or US Senators for information.

seems to me 11 weeks after approval, and then disappeared is not a valid response from the Govt.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I think all Canadian applications are issued an interview from NVC. It does take time and most CR1s take longer to get an interview date. We had our scheduled via our embassy and it was 6 months to get it. Others also have long waits up to 6 months from different embassies. I would call and see if they have the application and any idea of when they will schedule an interview. Good luck.

hi all.

i don't post often on this site -- only when i have a question that i can't find the answer to -- but honestly, i'm reaching the end of my rope. This week marks the one-year anniversary of our having to leave each other (we had been together in the states for a number of years, I on a student visa, until it ran out). Now we're hundreds of miles away, and have been apart for an entire year. i know that we are lucky to even be on the same continent, but really - no one should have to go through this.

On top of it all there has been no word from the powers that be. Our case was completed at the beginning of Februrary but nothing else has happened (it has been 11 weeks since then). Have called, have emailed, have gotten no answers and no indication that this is ever going to end.

Sorry, i'm babbling and ranting. this whole process is so awfully draining.

Who wants to join me in a campaign for a world without borders? a place where love conquers countries?

...we all know what you're going thru with the lonliness stuff...sux doesn't it?

I highlighted that bit in your post because I have to say it REALLY irritates me. Now I know ppl are busy & have lives & whatnot, but I think it's kinda crappy that the only time you post is when you need an answer. This isn't a helpdesk, it's a community of people who support each other....and from what I gather, you are only interested in BEING supported rather than also OFFERING support to others. You want answers to questions, but what do you give in return?

This is my personal opinion, and not one of consensus...but you remind me of that friend who calls me only when she wants something. And it's really hard to sympathize with that. Sorry!

Sometimes it even helps to be supportive of the other people too. You get to know people and they become your friends and their victories become your victories in a sense. You really do feel happy when your friends get approvals and visas. At least I do. There are people on here waiting for approvals and each day I specifically look for posts by them hoping they get them.

What I am wondering is why a couple chooses the longest path available to re-unite and then turns around to complain that it's such a long path. And that is really besides the point that no benefit was even filed for until the end of August, 2005. That's a mere 8 months ago and the case is already complete at the NVC. If I recall correctly, most couples can't even get their I-130's adjudicated in that kind of a timeframe let alone move all the way through the NVC as well. Some people.

AOS: Nope.

K1: Nope.

K3: Nope.

CR1: Yeah, that seems a sufficently long process to complain about. dribble.gif

I agree with gettign that good feeling for others' victories...but I dunno...perhaps I woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something, but it seems so crappy to come on somewhere asking for support when you're down, without the willingness to offer it for someone else...

It's like those people....they get their k1s aos, whatever...and when it's all done...then you never hear from them again UNTIL they pop up later with other questions for citizenship. Now I'm not gonna even try to say that once David is here, I will be on here nearly as much as I am now...but you guys aren't just names on a computer...I would miss the relationships I have made...and I could not just cut this out of my life like 'ok you've served your purpose, now f*** off until I need ya again.'

I wouldn't go that far - for plain practical reasons.

That gave me a chuckle. Practical reason :)

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There hasn't been any news, because there ISN'T any news. She's waiting on an interview for the Montreal Consulate. They can't tell her anything until it's scheduled, and they currently have a backlog, and so probably just were scheduling interviews for those whose cases were completed in January. I say that because Melliemel jsut had her interview April 19th, and her case was completed December 19th. Therefore, it stands to reason that the May interviews went to people whose cases were completed in January, and that Harding's will probably be in June (maybe July since they are so backlogged).

I totally understand the frustration, believe me! Sadly, there isn't anything that a Senator can find out that the NVC isn't telling him. Harding's case is in a pile of other cases, waiting for an interview to be scheduled. No way to speed that up. Only thing to do is call at the start of each month and hope like crazy that an interview has been scheduled.

I know it's hard, Harding, but it WILL happen. Seriously, I'd bet your interview will be June or July, which isn't far off at all! :)

Lisa, I totally understand what you're saying, and I feel the same to some extent...if people can be supportive, they should, etc etc..but the simple fact is, not everyone has the time AND/OR inclination to be on this site a lot...I mean, we see it in our community of people here..the ones we have gotten to know really well...they are around, but they get jobs once they get here, etc etc and don't have as much time to just hang out and be silly and support others. I'm sure a lot of them would like to, they just can't. Just MY opinion. :) M.

Reinhard, who SHOULD be allowed to complain??? By what you are saying...only the people who choose shorter paths???

But yeah, 8 months to be completed at the NVC going for a CR-1 is indeed a nice one!

No. Not everyone has that option. I can see people with SO's in some of the Western African countries, Vietnam, the Phillipines, the Middle East or thereabout complaining when it takes them well over a year to get loved ones here even though they did all the right things to make it as short as possible.

Nani's immigration, for example. I could have done the K1 (about a year at the time), the IR1 (about 2.5 - 3 years at the time) or the K3 (about 6 months at the time). So, I chose the K3. Had I chosen a different path, I wouldn't have gone out to complain about how long it takes. After all, it was my choice... ;)

But yeah, 8 months to be completed at the NVC going for a CR-1 is indeed a nice one!

Exactly!
