proof of relationship

I am sure this has been asked many times but I wanted to ask again, I am just worried I will make a mistake. I plan on sending in the papers to VT tomorrow and just having my Aunt "proff read" everything tonight. For proof that I was in St Lucia and a relationship I have the following...

About 5 pics of Louis and I in St Lucia

A couple with Louis and my daughter (I am a photographer and hate my picture being taken!)

The past couple months of phone bills (calls to St Lucia adding up to about $700)

I also have my return ticket from St Lucia (lost the arrival portion)

Receipt from daughter's school on the island

Receipt for deposit on my apartment (showing my arrival day)

St Lucian driver's license

I also wrote a page explaining how I met Louis and what we did for the 6 months I was in St Lucia. This isnt really proof but I though it might help.

How does that sound? Think I should add anything if I can? We dont write letters - as you can see phone bills are high so we talk about 3 times a day! We have vowed to write a letter to each other now and then so he can bring those for interview ... just to add a bit of "proof" :-)

Thanks to all again for your help and opinions...

peace

Catherine

Welcome, IrieCat!

Nice to see another VJer who's SO is from the same country as mine. :)

Your proof of relationship sounds good....you may want to double-check again by reading the guides:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

You should start writing and sending them snail mail if a computer is not available. I also found this website helpful for phonecalls to SLU: www.enjoyprepaid.com

Good luck to you and your fiance on your journey!

Proof of an ongoing bona fide relationship is needed at interview. With petition, you need to show evidence of having met within the past two years. All the above is good but the best "primary" evidence is boarding passes and passport stamps. You don't mention passport stamps but I expect you have them. Pictures are secondary evidence unless they are of the "proof of life" variety.

Girl, I know how expensive it can get to call SLU. I don't know why they don't have better rates but maybe not too many people call over there? I'm glad it's able to save you money though. :) Although, I have to warn you, it's so easy to drop $20 or $50 on a single call so what I usually do is set my timer on for xx minutes, then I know when to say bye...just so I don't use up the whole thing on a single call. LOL

Good luck on your journey!!

I recommend pingo.com -a lot of VJers are using it now I think. Check their rates to St. Lucia. There are a couple of nice things about it - you can put your SO's number on 'speed dial' so you don't have to dial the whole # at once. You can also register the numbers you call from the most and Pingo will recognize that you are calling from those numbers so you dont have to put your userid and pin# each time. It's a blessing for those of us with SOs from countries without the most reliable phone service. It got to where I would hate calling G sometimes because I would have such a hard time reaching him or I would get cut off and then have to call the access #, pin, and the his long phone # again.... Pingo also can top off your account if the balance is running low so your phone card will never run out again, haha...

For having met, a "proof of life" picture would show the two of you together in an obvious location with proof of the date like newspaper for that date clearly displayed. The popular method in China is to have the Bank Gaurd take their picture in front of the money exchange display board in a branch of the Bank of China. The board shows the date and time.

I think your evidence list actually sounds a little skimpy but I haven't actually filed yet and am personally just really paranoid about it, because I'm still getting all of our packet together :o

If I were you I'd send in any emails you've sent each other too, and since you guys don't have tons of stuff get signed statements from any friends that have seen you guys together, too. Maybe even get your daughter to do one :P I don't know. The worst that happens I guess is you get an RFE and it sounds like those only hold people up a few days.

And like I said I'm just quite paranoid about my own right now.

Good luck!

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent

IrieCat,

I think it sounds fine. The proof that you were in St. Lucie when you tell USCIS you met is quite strong (DL and proof from daughter's school). I suggest bringing a bit of everything...don't feel like you need to load up on pictures I mean.

Thanks! Just for good measure I sent a color copy of passport will all stamps etc in it. Oh and the phone bills ... about 30 pages of it all to Louis' cell phone. I think the pictures of me, him and my daughter in St Lucia are pretty good, I sent 8 or 9 I think. If they ask both his mom and my aunt and mother will write a letter.

Also planning a trip in April if VT isnt done by that time. We opened him an e-mail account that a mutual friend will help him with... when your bathroom is outside, internet is not an option! :-) And we have just written each other an actual letter! LOL All this for future and furthur proof.

If only the people could actually see us together - we have known each other our whole lives.

I know what you mean.

Don't stress too much - just send a little of each. We sent only 6 pictures, 5 e-mails, one phone bill, a couple of used phone cards, one birthday card, but all stamps/visas/plane tickets...etc.

If you already have bought your plane ticket or made a reservation for your trip in April you can include that.

I made a scrapbook of photos and brought it to the interview, along with some presents and envelopes from letters we'd sent to each other.

You'll need proof for the K1 interview, the AOS (for your fiance to become a resident), and then again when he removes his conditions off his green card....
