Question about the military

I know you have to have at least a green card to join the military but I was wondering if I'd get in trouble for just asking a recruiting office for information. Does anyone know if I can get in trouble?

NO you would not get into any trouble for asking question. Ask and ask a lot of questions!!!

The country is at war, they need everybody and therefore lower pretty much all requirements.

They would be more than happy to see ya at their door!! I did the Army, Navy and Air Force in Canada!! Go Air Force!! I much preferred my own hotel room,lol

Navy is pretty decent, keeps you out of harms way.

Don't forget to check out the NATIONAL GUARD! There are some good opportunities there also.

flames, you did everything in Canada. Way to go! Which did you like best? I was in the militia. I have a friend who's dad was a firefighter in the air force. There's a cool job that's hard to get into.

I'm wondering if anyone knows, if you join the U.S. military do you have to go to the Canadian government and formally renounce your citizenship?

I enjoyed all 3 services, but I loved the Air force!! I worked many of the electronics gear on the CP-140 Aurora (P3C) I just found one got treated a lot better in the Air Force. One was treated like an adult. The navy was fun, but too many grumpy sailors! And not a lot of common sense at times. Plus going from A to B in the Navy takes awhile, lot faster on a plane,lol Room with 50 other sailors, or have your own Hotel room, hmmmmmm

Of course one can be in the Air Force and not that fly much, they way to go is to be a trade that is Air Crew, which I was (Airborne Electronics Sensor operartor AES op) Can't recall what the American equivalent is, sorry. I had a blast!!

Hey sounds like you had a very cool job in the air force as well. That's good that they treat you like adults. In the army it's like you're a kid all over again. They tell you when to sleep, wake up, eat, go to the john. lol

My cousin is in the navy actually...he's over in the middle east right now. I hope he gets home safe.

I have also actually heard that if you do join the military, you can get expited citizenship, so there are advantages in joining even as someone coming from another country

That is true but I think it's only if you serve overseas. I'll have to double check on that.
