just got back from my husbands fingerprinting. luckily they did both his aos and ead at the same time so we didnt have to go back next week again.

told him his green card is still pending and could take 5-6 years to clear fbi check. needless to say he is pissed off after waiting 3 years already. if he dont hear anything in a month he wants to file the wom.

now im going to go take a nap. woke early and im beat now.

:blink::blink: They actually said that to you???? That is outrageous!!!!! I don't blame your husband for being po'd!!!

Top of the afternoon to all! Been a rough day. Emotions have been running high this week and being pregnant has not helped. Been wokring on packing. Moving back to Miami and will have the baby there. No more winters that just drag on for ever and ever. Back to packing. Have a good day.

Each time I watch csi miami I daydream about living in a high rise appt overlooking the waterway and sitting on the porch sipping coffee in the morning watching the sunrise. *sigh* Is it really like that there? So beaufitul all the time? I soooooo want to move as soon as my kids are done with high school and that is one place that is high on my list, especially since I have a sister who lives in Ft. Laud.

I have a stupid question....I was searching airgorilla.com for airfare for april and they have some new low fares, like a whole bunch under $1,000 but when you click on it to purchase WHAMMO you get hit with taxes to the tune of around $500!!! Now that was BA...$980 (or around there) for the flight and $500 for taxes, but Alitalia was around $880ish for the flight and only about $200 or so for the taxes.

What taxes? Are these state taxes like to Massachusetts or international taxes that depend on the airline or what??? Once I add those into the equation they're comparable to priceline or expedia. What a scam!

It can have to do with no only taxes, but charges that the booking site is including in the taxes, airport fees, etc. Also when I have been researching fares I have noticed that it makes a difference what airport you are going through and the fees that they charge at those airports.

Me too bridget! I think wow, that would be so beautiful. Then i think about them falling over and everyone dying, and I am quite happy by the ground :) That's just how my mind works!

Happy Thursday everyone. We've been assembling applications. I HATE applications. Write an essay discussing X, Q, and P. Write a cover letter. Submit 2 official copies of your transcripts,, degree evaluations, a letter of intent, a letter discussing our mission statement, 3 DNA samples and your left leg. Thank you.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Sounds like you and I need to just have ourselves a good long cry. This AOS garbage is for the birds. We just got back from our looooooovely USCIS appointment at the field office and found out NOTHING. The field officer says their computer system still shows the case to be PENDING!!!! And they dont know for what!! She thinks it might be the NSEERS, but wasnt sure. So to cover our butts Im making copies of Ahmed's NSEERS registration and sending that in with the appeal, maybe it'll work. Argh!

On a happier note, I got a voice mail from the senator's office while we were out. I faxed them the auth this afternoon, so maybe they can beat some USCIS azz.

Where's the "tearing my hair out" smiley?

omg i have a headache just thinking of the papers and the application you guys are doing!!!:blink: I never ever ever want to go back to school. No desire. Zippo. Maybe a sewing class or something but nothing intense and nothing required.

lol about the buildings falling over. I think they're safe. I looked on realtor.com for sh!ts n giggles and they're more expensive then I thought they'd be. Normally just about anywhere in the US is a LOT cheaper than the Boston area but Miami is up there. My parents told me that a lot of the stars that used to live in California are slowly moving to Florida so maybe that's why. My parents are in Orlando right now and they said that there was a HUGE fire that erupted and closed an entire highway. they said some of the scenes that went on with the trucks were gruesome but I haven't heard anything about it up here. Right about now though if I lived there I'd be sliding into the hot tub with a nice cool fresca watching the cruise ships go out. *sigh*

Yep I have 20 papers to write this semester. I still have one class to go tonight and I hope it's just production and not papers.

MOTHER OF NACHOS THATS A LOT OF PAPERWORK! Glad its you and not me!

jackie, if it is any consolation, I think we had similar days. I didn't forget my medicine but had one of the worst days at work that I've had since moving here! All of my coworkers were even stressed to the max! By the time I left they were begging me to bring them with me so they could get the heck outta there. I've never been so happy to be sitting on my couch.

I can't wait to charcoal up the hookah and watch "sweet november" and unwind tonight. My co-worker brought the movie to me today..anyone seen it? any good???

I think I'm going to see if i can get the sewing machine I got for christmas to work. Its not an expensive one and less than a foot tall and equally as wide. it is for beginners  I can't figure out how to make the bottom thread and top thread work together....... hmmmm

I sure as heck hope tomorrow is better than today.

I remembered hearing about why taxes where greater for British airports on Euronews. So...I did some googling.

U.K.'s new tax increase means unfriendlier skies

Updated 2/2/2007 11:26 AM ET E-mail | Save | Print | Reprints & Permissions |

By Gene Sloan, USA TODAY

Forget London. If you're looking for a deal on a flight to Europe, Amsterdam is now the place to go.

That's the bottom line in the wake of sharply higher British airline taxes that took effect Thursday.

The controversial change, announced in December by United Kingdom Chancellor Gordon Brown, doubles the country's Air Passenger Duty on long-haul flights to 40 British pounds for economy class, or about $78 (the premium-class tax also doubles, to 80 pounds, or about $157). The increase boosts the already high total cost of taxes and fees in economy class between the USA and the U.K. to nearly $300, more than double the amount levied on flights to rival low-cost hub Amsterdam.

"It (now) makes a lot of sense to use airports outside the U.K. for getting to Europe," says Tom Betts, editor of flycheapo.com, a British-based website that focuses on low-cost flights in Europe. "There is a real danger (to British airlines) of Americans avoiding the United Kingdom."

Indeed, with the tax increase, the total price of a round-trip ticket from New York to London, long the low-cost hub for Europe-bound Americans, can now be $20 higher than a round-trip to Amsterdam — a major flip-flop in the old rule of thumb that London always was a tad cheaper. Non-stop flights between New York and London for travel in March were selling this week on Orbitz.com for $517, round trip (a fare of $238 plus $279 in taxes and fees). Between New York and Amsterdam for the same days, they were $497 (a fare of $396 plus $101 in taxes and fees).

The United Kingdom also boosted taxes Thursday on domestic and intra-European flights by 5 pounds, or about $10. Betts notes that the increase makes London less appealing as a base for Americans who plan to visit multiple European cities using discount air carriers such as Ryanair and easyJet.

In announcing the increases on Dec. 6, Brown said the money would go toward improvements in public transportation and environmental programs.

Yeah, I got pretty discouraged last time I tried contacting them. All I got were canned letters (if any at all) and by the time I received them, the problem had been solved in another manner. However, when we got the AOS denial I told my mommy on them and she told daddy. Daddy started beating down senator/congressman doors Monday morning. And today we got a response. Faster action than I ever got out of them in the past. So my advice is to tell your mommy on USCIS!

Ahhh, thank you. That is a most accurate decription of today :D

Jeff Dunham's puppets are extrmely therapeutic. If you havent seen it yet, check out his DVD "Spark of Insanity". Much better than the first one "Arguing with Myself". I especially enjoy watching Peanut and Jose argue. "Ill turn your azz into guacamole! Ill stir you with your own stick!"
