Hello to all my lovely MENA VJers,

I hope all of you are doing well inshAllah and have enjoyed the holidays!! :) My hubby's interview is coming up real soon inshAllah (please pray for him) and I need some tips/answers to some questions I have if you all would not mind who have experienced interviews at the Cairo US consulate:

1) What are the most COMMON questions to be asked...and is it better to be concise with answers or be more and more detailed??

2) Are there any CO's to watch out for? Or ways of dealing with those that tend to give people a hard time?

3) How do you know you have been approved and are getting the visa? Do they approve everyone...for example let us say inshAllah my hubby is approved (INSHALLAH YARAB :D) and they say the standard "Congratulations...you will be receiving your visa in two weeks...etc etc etc"...do they say this to everyone (even those going on AP) or no?

4) Does Cairo take your passport regardless of whether or not you will be put on AP, or is them having possession of the passport indication of issuing a visa soon?

5) This may be a silly question...but has ANYONE ever received the visa on the same day...or within less than a week of the interview?

6) Other than the proof, is there anything else he should bring with him?

Thank you all for reading and I would really appreciate responses to these questions!! :) I pray for everyone to receive their visas (especially you wonderful people who have been waiting patiently in AP...God bless you all)...and inshAllah we will all be reunited with our loved ones!!! :) Please keep us in your prayers!! :) Have a wonderful night :)

1) What are the most COMMON questions to be asked...and is it better to be concise with answers or be more and more detailed??

What is your wife's birthday? What are the names of her children? What is the name of her parents? When did she get divorced? Why did she get divorced? How did you meet? Do her parents approve? Does your parents approve? What does she do for work?

2) Are there any CO's to watch out for? Or ways of dealing with those that tend to give people a hard time?

There are a few cranky ones but nothing you can do in terms of "dealing" with them. Just try to stay calm no matter what they say to you and don't give them a reason to get more angry.

As a DOS person once told me, you'll know you're approved when you have the visa in your hand. I was ticked at him until I read the same line at the embassy page.

Our best answer is that “You cannot be sure of when you will get your immigrant visa until it is in your hands.

4) Does Cairo take your passport regardless of whether or not you will be put on AP, or is them having possession of the passport indication of issuing a visa soon?

Them having your passport indicates nothing. Again half have had it kept by the embassy and half haven't. If you figure out their reasoning let me know. :D

5) This may be a silly question...but has ANYONE ever received the visa on the same day...or within less than a week of the interview?

Yes but a very small percentage that come here. Could be larger amount but I only know of what I see on VJ. A woman would have the best chance of this happening.

6) Other than the proof, is there anything else he should bring with him?

Money for the vending machine. We were there for a LONG time and we were both getting hungry. It's just chips and stuff but when you're starving it doesn't matter.
