where is my i-601 waiver approval

Hi everyone, my lawyer told me that he filed my waiver back in june of 06 at 26 Federal Plaza. We have not heard anything back so far as to if they got it or what. Is this normal, i guessing that nothing is normal with uscis. Is there anyone in the same situation? What must I do next to find out whats going on with my waiver. The sad part is that I actually wrote the waiver and handed it to my no good lawyer, so i'm not sure what he mailed in....I need HELP.
