I read something somewhere on VJ (looked all over for the post) about being able to get some kind of temp work permit if the SO arrives at JFK in NY as port of entry. Can someone explain what this is and how it works. :help:

Thanks so much (L)

GOD BLESS

When my husband arrived, he was given an I-94 which had an expiration date of 90 days later. He did not ask for it, they placed it there on the page opposite of his VISA.

Yes, I agree with Ogele. I would tell your husband to ask in the event they do not give it to him. But I would think they would do the same for a K3 Visa. I know Ara's husband recently arrived. You might want to email her.

K3 is not work authorized upon entry, ie, no temp EAD at JFK. You need to apply for the work permit or wait for the greencard.

If your husband is coming to the US on a K3 visa he will not be able to work until you file for his Adjustment of Status where he will get an Employment Authorization Document to work and he will also get a 2 year conditional greencard then you will have to lift conditions in 2 years and he will get a 10 greencard it costs $1,010.00. Or you can just get the Employment Authorization Document which takes 90 days and he can get a SS# with that it costs $340.00.

My husband came in November and I just sent his AOS paperwork off on Dec. 21st he will not get the EAD until the middle of March and you have to apply for the SS# it takes 2-4 weeks to get so we are looking at April before he can work.

I try to keep him busy best I can because he wants to work sooooooo bad but we are happy to be together. That is the downside of the K3 not being able to work but the good side is being together a little bit sooner!

Good Luck!
