I don't buy starbucks because its starbucks.

I happen to love their coffee. I have favorite "indie" coffee shops too, but none as close to me as starbucks, so I'd rather not drive three counties over and add to the polution problem when I can just walk down the street and get a venti cinnamon dolce latte from them and I really do like their coffee.

It's starting to smell like hippie in here.

I brew my own. Mags got me a great coffeemaker for Christmas. It's a Cuisinart Thermal one with a built-in grinder. I never thought it would make THAT much difference to have the coffee ground right before it's brewed. It does.

Here's the one she got me:

It makes delicious coffee. Plus, you can put the beans in before you go to bed, program it, and it'll grind and brew the coffee for when you wake up. Assuming, of course, that your spouse doesn't unplug the damn thing every night.....

They can't make a decent cup of coffee. That place is to coffee what McDonalds is to hamburgers.

Actually, since McDonald's went to gourmet coffee, it's far superior to Scarschmucks. Plus they put the sugar and cream in for you.

Oh so it's okay for you to push Mc Donalds and Cuisinart.

I c now.

Should we get into the politics of how awful McDonalds is??

Have you tried McDonalds version of Chai tea?? It tastes like a mud puddle.

I think just because someone loves certain Starbucks drinks doesn't mean they drink it every day.

I hardly drink their regular coffee, like I said earlier it's the speciality lattes that I really like. Eggnog latte has been a favorite lately. You can't just get that anywhere. I don't have one every day. Just a couple times a week. If I want coffee in the early morning, I brew it at home. So maybe some people have the wrong idea that just because you like the way Starbucks tastes, doesn't mean you are there every day or some slave to them. Even if you are there every day, who cares if it's your money. But my point is not everyone is there every day but can still love it.

Oh btw, LOL I do like McDonald's new coffee.

I have a love-hate relationship with starbucks.. can't live without the occasional latte but their prices are just outrageous!

and nobody gave me a gift card for christmas...

I really considered working there at one point just for all the free coffe they spoil you with!

i have the same relationship with them!! i did get a gift card for christmas, but its been spent already

my friend works at the starbucks down the street from my job, so i get all the free coffee that i want when he is working...unfortunately, he hasnt been working very much lately, so ive been missing out <_<

oh, two other things:

1. their regular coffee is terrible, id rather get it from the cart on the corner...the caramel macchiato is what its all about

2. i have recently decided that seatle's best has better lattes, but is equally as expensive, so it doesnt make much of a difference

So do you brew at home? I want to get a machine but am debating whether to get a french press or a regular machine...

oh man, french press all the way!!!! its a million times better....but thats if you like the taste of coffee...it comes out much stronger which is why its so much more delicious to me

wow, this topic has really engaged me...im officially a coffee addict *runs to make an espresso on her boss' fancy Nespresso machine*

Confession: I have never been to Starbucks.

I've been there once, once, in my entire life. I wasn't impressed, plus I don't drink coffee either and what I had there was WAY over-rated.

hehehe... I don't like coffee AT ALL...
