I love the colour of your son's room. Nice with bold accents. Hopefully he can enjoy it soon.

Our house is very much on the neutral/earth tone side. Lots of medium browns and reds. I will take some pics and post them when I get a chance. We also live and die by HGTV. I also love those home selling shows like Buy Me, My First House, Property Virgins, etc. Since I'm living in Wisconsin now, I really like to see the Canadian shows :)

I love decorating threads. I have been slowly redecorating our house. When I bought it a few years back, it was all done in pastels, even down the light blue carpet! Yuk! Most of the pictures are on my computer at work, but here is one that I uploaded previously. The bathroom walls were blue and pink pastel flowers. I replastered the wall to look like stone and then faux finished them. I will upload pics of the completed room. We also took out the old linoleum floors and put in ceramic tile.

I am fascinated by that molding in the corner. That's awesome. And the gold flower in the medallion. Wow. All that must have taken you forever. Good job! How old is your house, txladykat?

Well, yesterday we finally put the curtains up in the dining room so it's almost finished.... kinda. lol. There's still a few finishing touches I'd like to do, but that'll have to wait until we get back from Italy because I want to bring back some Murano glass from Venice. I have a bit of a glass fetish.

Thanks! Here are pictures before I finished decorating everything. I will get those put up as well. The stone wall plaster is what took forever. Took three months (doing weekends only) to get the entire bathroom walls done! But it was worth it. Check out the before, then the afters. Oh, my house is only about 25 years old.

Before:

After:

Later I will send pics with the italian decor in place. Also did my kitchen (except the counters), I did that room in a french country look. All is done now except the counters, which I won't do myself....

Wow. Absolutely fabulous, txladykat. I love the french doors. So.... I got the impression.... did you do all that tile work yourself, then?

thanks everyone! Yes I did, that was the second time I had ever laid tile. Hard work, but such a great feeling of accomplishment doing it myself. I love doing renovation projects like this. Once we get married, I will be leaving my current job in legal and go into real estate flipping houses (woohoo!)

wow that tile work is gorgeous!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
