My hometown has been forever changed by development. But this is pretty much how I remembered downtown Gilbert, AZ. Gilbert was once the cotton capital of the world and when we first moved there in '73, we were surrounded by alfalfa fields. Crop dusters would be dusting the crops, just a holler's distance from us as we would wait at the school bus stop in the mornings.
