My fiancee just had her interview today. She answed all the questions that they asked:

-When we met,

-How do we communicate,

-why her visa was canceled(it was canceled because she came back too soon)

-has she ever stayed in the United States longer than 6 months.

After that they said all is good and they took her passport and the documents(proof of support,etc). At this poin t they said she will get everything back in the mail.

I am wondering what this meant. I was under the impression that they would issue her a visa card the same day.

Has anyone ever had the passport mailed to them?

Does this mean approval or what?

K1 Visa aside, I have. I've received two visas in the past one as a student for Italy and a work visa for the UK. In both cases my passport was mailed and i received it back in 48 hours.

Some consulate/embassies can provide the passport back the same day, but most will take a week or two to return the passport with the visa.

Congratulations. She should have filled out a DHL slip for the visa to be mailed to her. We were approved on a Monday and the Visa was mailed to us on Wednesday. She should know where she can go pick it up or when it will be mailed to her. Congrats again.
