how long does london take to give you an interview date?

Hi,

I am in the US on my K-3 visa but waiting for my IR-1 interview (decided it was easier to wait for that and go home for the interview than to adjust status in NY - its a long process here). My petition was sent from the NVC to the London consulate a few weeks ago...

Can anyone tell me how it stays in london until i get my interview date? Just want a date to look forward to so we can get things moving and visit my family and friends in the UK.

i might be wrong, but i dont think you can be in the US and do IR1.

if i'm correct, one stipulation of IR1 is to show residence in the country where the consulate is. you'd have to move back to UK, do the NVC business and do an interview.

if u'r in the US, then u have to do i485.

wannagohome, Louise is going back to London for her interview. She can do what she is doing. So are plenty of others on here. You can be anywhere, as long as you are in your home country for the interview.

Louise, email the embassy and ask them. I think I remember from Amanda that she emailed and got her date from them but they only sent the interview package 1 month before interview which doesn't really give you much time.

Louise, Angel is right, I emailed to find out when my interview was, i also asked which address they sent the interview letter to, & they had sent it here to me in Michigan, which i have since got!!................so my advice is keep emailing until you get a date, & take a look at my timeline for an idea as to how long you will have to wait!!!

Thanks girls, I emailed last week but they still haven't replied. I'll send another one. You emailed LondonConsular@state.gov right? Thats the address I wrote to.
