Wow she should meet my mom!

When I skipped class in high school one too many times, my mom dressed up in a house coat, furry slippers and put curlers in her hair and walked me to EVERY SINGLE CLASS.

Needless to say I never skipped again...or forgave her

OMG that is hilarious! My dad always threaten to come to my school with old bib overalls on and without his teeth! Thank God, he never did that!

That is AWESOME. My SIL did the same thing to her kids when they kept calling her to bring them forgotten lunches or homework. Dressed up the same way and hand-delivered it. That cured 'em.

Bah, this mother is just being overly dramatic. What kind of mom snoops on their 19 yr. old? Sounds to me like she's having a hard time letting go of her little boy and wants him to be a mama's boy into adulthood.

steven, keep in mind this little tidbit: 1. the mother bought the car and 2. she probably is paying the insurance too. it's in her name. she's financially liable if her son kills someone while dwi.

Or he was giving her reasons not to trust him. A mama's boy Mom would have excused his behaviour and not made him take responsibility.

Cut the apron strings, kid, and get your own car. Legal adult and all that.

This would have been more of a story if the kid had been 16, but 19 is a little old. I understand the points about liability and the mom paying for the car, but this story's "tough love" angle is kinda lame given his age.

Sorry, if you're living under your parents' roof, you're still subject to their rules and the consequences of breaking them.

Until what age? At what point does it become weird? Should a 30-year-old be subjected to the same rules? If not, why not?

Until any age; I don't care if you're 60 - if you're still living with your parents and they tell you not to do something, you don't do it.

He who pays the morgage/holds the title to the house wins. Period.

What if the offspring is making a financial contribution to the household? Is the basis of your argument financial, or blind parental reverence?

And what if said parent isn't all that with-it?
