So after waiting for two months to get a copy of my wifes daughters birth certificate, I find out from immigration that I don't need to send this in. They told me if they needed it at a later time, I could send it in and have it amended to the petitions.

In the instructions on the I-130, it doesn't even state anywhere down where it pertains to father and stepchild about a birth certificate. I talked to some one at immigration awhile back and was told that I should wait to get the kids birth certificate. The problem being is that the NSO in the Philippines is so slow on getting stuff back that I really don't know when I could expect to get it. For all I know it could be another six months. I would like to get my wife and step kid over to US by the end of 2008 if that is even remotely possible.

So all I am waiting for now is the g325 forms that I sent back to her to sign and the certified true copies of her birth, marriage, and baptismal papers. That should take about 5-10 days by Johnny Air.

I am really pressing for time here because I am getting booted out of my work by the end of 2008 because of outsourcing and need to qualify on the 864 form. Not to mention that I am going to have to get another job too to support my new family. I now know to ask for two opinions at immigration. I will next time.

For the most part the instructions for the I-130 are pretty clear about which documents you need to file with the petition. Otherwise, we don't call it the "misinformation line" for nothing.
