Orlando interview a success

I don't want to make this long - so here it goes...

We arrived right at 9:30 because I was nervous and directed my husband to the biometrics office - not immigration. We waited outside in line for 15 minutes. We waited about 10 minutes in the lobby.

When we were called we got up and the IO asked why there were 3 people. I told her our friend is the translator - and she said we don't need one.

We swore in and the IO let me translate . She said she speaks Spanish and that Portuguese is close. She didn't really ask us any questions about our relationship - just had my husband verify his information on the I-485. She spent a good deal asking him those questions about paying a prostitute...haha...., being a terrorist, if he wanted to overthrow the gov't, etc.

She wanted to know if he came to the U.S. alone. I told her how we met in Brazil, how I travelled back and forth, and then went to the K1 interview and we came here together.

The IO cut the corner of his work permit and I knew we were approved. She stamped his passport on the 29th page because she said he was born on that day, and he married on his b'day - I thought it was nice. She was very pleasant and I was able to make "jokes".

The only thing is she asked for proof of relationship and I gave her originals AND copies. I told her I was nervous (afterwards) for doing that because I may need the originals - she said so you can get them (meaning from where I got those). IKES. Not a good idea...but she didn't want to return them. She didn't even look at the papers though, just put them in our BIG folder.

She told him Congrats, copied our DLs and we were on our way.

Phew....

I almost feel like the IO was killing time by checking through everything - telling my hubby she needed to know his father's name. We had left it out since his name is not on the BC and my husband can't remember it. No biggie.

Congratulations :dance: You guys can now take you're well deserved break from USCIS for the next 21 months.... feels good doesnt it!!

I hope all goes well with my interview next week, then i wont need to deal with immigration again till citizenship

Sorry about the confusion krikit, I was trying to make my remarks short (but didn't succeed too much). I was worried we'd be late to the interview, but then realized no way because of the line and wait. But then again...with USCIS you never know...
