Hello, I've got a question about the Education section on the DS 230. Instead of doing university in his home country my husband got a degree from a technical school. He was given a diploma when he finished the course, but he lost it. The school then had an accident and burned down which wiped out all of its records. He tried to go to the school to get a record of his diploma and they said they can't help him unless he has his copy of his diploma... in other words, there's nothing to show that he's concluded the course and the school won't make him another diploma unless he did everything over again.

So the question is this: In the case of missing school records, do we leave this information off of the ds 230 form when we fill it out? Or do we put down what he knows he's done even though there's no proof of it. Would it look bad that he doesn't have any "higher" education than his high school degree? I'm leaning towards writing down that he's done the course, but I don't know if it's allowed or would cause problems because there's no proof that he's completed the course.

thanks in advance.

Hola,

education level does not really matter for family-based immigration and your husband will not be asked to provide any proofs of education. (Well, at least I was not). I would put his education on DS-230 since that is the correct information, regardless of what he can or can not prove.

As for the records missing, his school should be able to at least provide him with a letter stating that he attended the establishment in such and such years, but records are not available due to force major.

Hope this helps :innocent:
