I thought the subject was about the book by Pete Agbo, not character assassination. Read the book, give your insight. Not why you won't purchase the book.

Is this the right post? If not, I am sorry. If so, let's discuss the book, his directions for American women, etc.

If it don't fit don't force it.

Yes excellent idea. I tried to order at Amazon and it was out of stock. I ordered from C and B Books. It allowed me to use paypal so I did not have to use a credit card with an unknown site.

http://www.cbbooksdistribution.com/suggfeb07.html

This is where I ended up ordering my copy too.

Yeah, so I ordered this book last night and this morning I got an e-mail that they did not recieve my payment for shipping and handling. They had a screwy system, but anyways, you can pay with Paypal, which is awesome. Don't know if anyone else had the same problem but just a heads up :)

I can't find my paypal account information, it's been a while since I've used it. When I processed to purchase the book, there weren't any shipping and handling charges included and I did find that odd, cause there was only the cost of the book and taxes. I wasn't sure how to rectify that. I hope I don't have to create another paypal account. I'll probably lose that too. :P How am I supposed to keep track of all these computer passwords and keep calling NVC? I have to prioritize!

They will send you another e-mail, probably tomorrow and you just go back to Paypal and send the money to them. No biggie.

Of course it could be cubic zirconia....but I said I would shut up. :P

Throughout the 90's I was an avid opposer of the diamond trade due to the inhumane treatment of the African people. However, if you were to do your research you would find that the Clean Diamond Trade Act, established in 2003, was created as a means to stop this inhumane treatment of the African people as well as the profiting of Gorilla warfare in this already war-torn country. The act is a United States law designed to stop the trade of diamonds that fund violent civil conflicts in many African countries. The law showed the U.S. participation in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme for trade in rough diamonds.

Also, since you are unaware of where this man purchased his diamonds, I would suggest that you keep your opinions to yourself. Currently, the Ekati Diamond Mine in Canada is one of the largest producing diamond mines in the world. It is capable of providing 1 diamond per US citizen per day for over the next 25 years.

I myself have researched this mine and option extensively since diamonds are a girls best friend and I want one. However, as previously stated, I do NOT and will NOT support the blood diamond trade. This man, obviously educated, has probably done his research prior to his purchase and like me, got his diamonds from a very well publicly certified diamond dealer. One BTW that I would greatly assume DOES NOT support the blood trade in Africa.

Not only are your comments ignorant and unfounded, however they are also defaming towards this man and his character. As an African man, do you NOT think that he researched this. Do you think he would add to the conflict and unresolve of his own country by blatantly displaying diamonds from a war-torn country. A war-torn country that he witnessed falling before him as all other Africans have. For hundreds of years the African people and nation have been in unrest. I see with ignorance like yours why it has been fostered. Only someone like you would be so small minded as to think you can only get milk from a cow. There are obviously numerous resources to get milk, same with diamonds. It is only smalled minded people who do not know that diamonds can be found all over the world and not only in Africa.

Maybe if you would expand your horizons and actually read a book instead of just judging it by its cover, you would learn that just as everything in this world, you have more than one option when trying to purchase a diamond.

Darling there are more diamonds then the industries know what to do with. Diamonds are still mined by children that have been kidnapped and slaved to work. If they have been thought to have stolen their fingers are chopped off. But they are still expected to dig with the other hand

Just like oil in their country their community does not reap the benefits of such rich resources.

Diamonds are sold all over the world including India, but for some reason Africa still enslaves children to mind for them and still get their diamonds out of the country that get mixed in with the legal diamonds.

The industry creates the need for diamond which rises up the demand. Diamonds are not expensive because they hard to find and people are payed fairly for them. Please

I did not say this man was anything. I said what his website portrayed to me. I did not say he was ignorant or arrogant. I said he looked it. My interpretation. His demeanor.

I never thought I could be so controversial.

Name calling does not become you!

Hhmmmm , I wonder why people are always agruing in these forums. I have conversations and give my point of view. I am not arguing with anyone.

I was just defending my post that was picked apart. I still have not attacked one person.

MrsJibowu,

I want to personally thank you for the positive posts and excerpts you have been providing to the forum, such as your sharing of the the daily "Today's Word with Joel and Victoria." I appreciate your taking the time to share and spread the Good News with us all.

I am reading the book, and have almost completed it. I think it contains some informative information. He is Igbo, but the information he shares is based on customs/traditions (for the lack of a better word) common to the African culture. I wont divulge too much of the book, but he speaks of things such as passing things with the left hand, how he experienced total culture shock when he came to the US and saw how outspoken our women are, and how it took him a while to get use to the fact that men in America take out the trash, as opposed to the women doing ALL things around the house.

I admit to being a little "turned off" by the cover of the book at first too.I was initially turned off by the sub-title "What every woman MUST know." As if to say that if I don't buy/read his book, my relationship and eventual marriage is doomed. But I took it a step further and actually opened the book, and was pleasantly surprised. He not only writes in a simple, down-to-earth manner, but he can also be quite funny at times. He shares his own experiences and perspectives, but the general message is that he is just offering some plain good advice to American women who are involved with African men. We all know that there are definite differences between American men and African men. All of us are here mostly because we are totally in love, intrigued and in awe of these wonderful, loving, intelligent handsome and spiritual Princes.

This forum, yet very informative, has taken on a totally different "feel" lately.....and it ain't for the better. I hope things start to change soon, because I have yet to find a site like this one as far as content and visa info. I am certainly not afraid to post, but it sure isn't a very "welcoming" environment at times. Who wants to take a chance at contributing, only to be "shot down by the masses." It's like some are here just waiting for flame bait. Then, here comes another....

Again, thank you MrsJibowu. I look forward to reading more posts from you in the future. It is your prerogative to read or not to read the book. But please give the flip-side of your opinion a fare chance too. That's what discussion forums are all about....

This forum is very informative and for the most part I think that there are people on here who respect each others opinions no matter what they are.

I normally would not reply to a post that would have the potential of derailing a topic off course like this (sorry Omoba  ) but I did not find what MrsJibowu wrote in her initial post as positive or contributing to what was going on here. Like I said before, if her post was made because she had read the book, or knows the author personally, I would have responded differently or not at all. Her post was made making a lot of assumptions about this guy and what he may or may not know. I just didn't think it was nice (I know I sound like my mother, oh well).

And while this is a public forum and people are free to post what they want, I think that there are certain times when one needs to bite their tongue. Someone else said it, if you don't like what you are reading then feel free to keep on moving. But if you know that what you are posting is going to get you answers you do not like, get ready for some backlash. I don't write this as a challenge to anyone but as reality.

That is all I have to say about this. I am not a mean, vindictive or vengeful person and none of what I said was meant to make this forum less welcoming/open to others or to hurt anyone. Many on here know that my aim here is to be supportive and helpful to all who are going through this gruelling process.

Peace :)

It was an entertaining book. I gained some insight. I mean its not a handbook or anything :) but I was throughly entertained. Reading about his experiences and his view was a refreshing diversion for me. It was an easy read and made laugh and opened my eyes to some sitituations. If you are looking for some deeper help, read the Bible or see a marriage counselor but if you want one african man's insight and advice based on experience read the book. I think you will enjoy it.

I have been trying to get this book as well...its sold out everywhere I have tried. His website does not have a secure paying method to order it.

Omoba...did u order directly thru him? Always leary about ordering stuff from individuals that I don't personally know. Is he selling it on Ebay as well?...Havent checked there.

Persaverance ( Heather ) ordered it for me directly from him. His number is on the web site. The book arrived within a few days.

I have been quietly reading this thread...This, like so many other threads has turned into a war of words and opinions, and taken a U-turn away from the original post. The only reason I am choosing to make a comment is because it is very disheartening to watch things spiral into a nasty exchange. I believe that it is everyones right to post...but just because u have the right to do something, doesnt mean its the right thing to do! If we all try to keep the subject matter limited to the topic of the post, it will make those wanting and seeking the information able to stay focused and enjoy this forum.

This thread was started as a"book club" which infers that those interested can read the book, and then offer their opinions and a discussion can ensue. Simple as that! Its really about responsible posting. But even "responsible" is relative...each person having a different opionion about relevance etc.

There is a place for everyone to voice their opinions and debate issues here on VJ...but when u start heated debates that have nothing to do with the original post, u force people who clicked on the thread out of interest for the topic, to scroll thru all the garbage. Its making these "lighter side" threads into a pitiful display of egos, and "who gets the last word"..(i am speaking in general terms, of all the inappropriate posting, not to anyone in particular)

We are all under alot of stress...we need uplifting threads to get our minds off this journey for a minute or two. Please, just post responsibly, and in the appropriate thread...or start one of your own..I think thats all most of us are asking and wanting from this website. No one should feel their opinion doesnt count, just like no one should feel unwelcome or afraid to post. Just keep it on topic so we all can enjoy every aspect of this wonderful VJ site.
