I have been trying to get this book as well...its sold out everywhere I have tried. His website does not have a secure paying method to order it.

Omoba...did u order directly thru him? Always leary about ordering stuff from individuals that I don't personally know. Is he selling it on Ebay as well?...Havent checked there.

Same for me. Every site is out of stock. His site won't let me order, or at least yahoo won't even bring up his ordering page. Let us know Omoba, I'd love to read it.

I liked it. I did get some insights. I appreciate him explaining about the gift giving, or lack thereof :) Doesnt have the same meaning. I really enjoyed his "Things I didnt know." highlights too. And his chapter "to my african brothers" that was very good, really wise advice. I hope many take it serously.

Hey ALL!!!!!

A small note first to say, while things have been rough for us at times, we are hanging in there and working through the many misunderstanding that come along.

No worries we are strong and steadfast ;)

I tried to order the book many places but NO WAY

I had to go direct to Pete himself.

You cant order it directly from the website,(he is upgrading or something like that) you need to send him a message through his site, he will then email you and have you call him...yes its really him...he will then take your order over the phone. We had our books in a few days.

Like Omoba said he really would like feed back, you can do that through his site as well.

It is a quick easy read so come on everybody talk to Pete and get a book!!

Yes excellent idea. I tried to order at Amazon and it was out of stock. I ordered from C and B Books. It allowed me to use paypal so I did not have to use a credit card with an unknown site.

I got this book also. I ordered it from Amazon. I saw forchika mention it and I ordered it. I am half way through it. It is very interesting and informative he is telling about his experiences and his adjustment in the american culture being from Nigeria and how he has grown and learned understanding to bring these two cultures together. He gives positive insight on making an american and african relationship work and overcome. I personally learned alot that I didn't even know about my husband's culture because I have been asking him questions I never thought to ask before so we have been having very long in depth conversations about this book and the topics it brings up. I think we are learning each other and understanding each other more and more everyday and that can't hurt it can only help.

This was a great idea Omoba  It will be interesting to read everyone's take on it!

Yeah, so I ordered this book last night and this morning I got an e-mail that they did not recieve my payment for shipping and handling. They had a screwy system, but anyways, you can pay with Paypal, which is awesome. Don't know if anyone else had the same problem but just a heads up :)

I still need a day or two to finish the book before I can give a more detailed opinion.

The book made me bust out laughing, very entertaining writing style and his highlights of personal experience with his Western

relationships from his African male perspective are funny and put me in his shoes for a minute.

He was raised very traditional I can say that much. This fact seemed to clash with his Skin on Skin chapter in my opinion. I guess he

just went wild when he got here  for a while until he was grounded again. I could have done without that info and do not believe it rings true

as he states for 100% of African males. Not going into details but those who read the book will know what I am talking about. I believe that is his own personality.

Of course there will always be a personality / character flavor on EVERY authors book that colors the outcome of his material. That is what makes a book a book !

That is because it is not meant to be a science project but an account of personal experience which needs no Anthropology degree. I am sure no one here takes his

experiences as gospel but entertainment and tips on how to learn from his mistakes and insight as African male in relationships with American woman. No one can argue with someones experience.

Even a history book misrepresents facts, just look at the black history in the US and see the omission of facts and misrepresentation in our schools today.

I am not looking for science here but " light hearted " input in a fun and entertaining venue from one man's perspective and personal experience.

I don't care where he works or if he wears an earing and sunglasses . This is not a fashion show or job interview but I wanted to hear his experiences with cultural issues.

If you read the book you would see his hatred for "status" and fronting who is who mentality. But if you don't then go ahead and judge the cover of the book ;) and miss the help he offers.

Different strokes for different folks.
