Ok, just a silly thread - time to dredge up the oldest post VJ has for you and post it here :)

Funny thing with this post, I didn't know how to find my posts back then so didn't read the responses until much later haha

I will start:

quote name='trailmix' date='Mar 22 2007, 03:38 PM' post='794563'

We have filed an I-130 for my Husband (Australian now in Canada). We have received the NOA. Now it's time to look ahead to the next level of paperwork!

I have seen mention elsewhere that I (a dual Canadian/American Citizen) am going to have to provide 3 years worth of U.S. tax returns? I hope there is some way around this....

I also read on the USCIS website that I might only be asked for the most recent year.

I only had my U.S. Citizenship documented this year (that is a whole other paperwork story), I have never lived in the U.S. and never worked in the U.S..

They don't seriously want me to file a U.S. tax return? If so, should I go ahead and file for 3 years, or just for last year.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

No clue, probably something like" where do u get the police cert from?" or "Can I visit my spouse in the USA while my visa application is ongoing?" or "How do you like your Tim Hortons?" :jest:

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

hehehe

Mine was:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

:help: My fiancee sent only the forms (I-129F and G-325A), photocopies of our passports, passport pics and the cheque!

I just re-read the uscis I-129f form and realized that you had to provide proof of your relationship in the package too and am freaking out! He was under the impression that you presented that evidence at the interview process and they just run a background check at this time!

Our petition was sent maybe two weeks ago and we still haven't received our confirmation letter (with case number) that they've gotten it. Should we wait for the case number and then send a cover letter with all our phone bills, flight itineraries etc? Can you send additional information before you get a RFE?

Oh I should have mentioned how to get the oldest post in case anyone isn't familiar. Where it says Logged in as - whomever - in the top left hand corner - click on your username (or however you get to your profile normally)

Once at your profile, just under your picture on the left hand side, there is a drop down menu that says "options", click on that then on Find Members Posts.

It will display your posts and you can use the navigation arrow at the bottom of the list to go back as far as it allows.

yeah, we know that but this isn't the original VJ.... back in Jan 06 we moved to this site because the old site was having problems.. the old site was in existence since 2003, I believe...

we could gain access to the old site for awhile but not anymore....

"""Hello,

I am the fiance he is speaking of, living in the States (Illinois). We are at the point in the K-1 process of waiting for the approved I-129F petition to be send to NVC (which I'm getting nervous about after reading all the trouble people have been having with that.)

I'd like to say first of all, thanks for all your help so far in this process. We started out pretty lost, I read a lot....and then some more just to understand the I-129F process. Sadly, I didn't find this forum until after the I-129F had been approved, but at least we have you guys to help us with the visa process!

My question is, I read http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide that I am supposed to send him a copy of my I-129F application. Well seeing as I hadn't been to this -----forum during that process, I didn't make copies of anything. Rather irresponsible but hey I'm new at this unsure.gif Will he still be okay in the interview if I just send him the NOA1 and NOA2? If anything I -----could fill out another I-129F form as all the information is the same...and then send that with him.

Thanks again for all the help!"""

hehe

I read for a long time before actually registering to ask my own question :innocent:

Good grief. I'd forgotten I'd written this. Almost 2 years ago. :o

Posted on: Apr 13 2006, 08:24 PM

Greetings. I sent in my DS-230 on February 13th. Fiance sent an email on March 14th requesting a status. March 15th he received a reply saying they were processing and it would be either the end of April or the end of May. Finally received the interview date (May 11th) on April 4th. (I was actually in the U.S. visiting him at the time so it may have come in a week previous to that.) Hope this is helpful to you.

ETA: Oh my goodness. An old signature line was inserted too. (I did a cut and paste.) Words from a song. Funny.

(I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far.)
