A Humblimg Biometrics Experience

We arrived at the ASC at 1100A today (even though we had a 1P appt). Last time we were able to get in early BUT this year .............NOTHING DOING! We were told to come back at 1245P for our 1P appt.

We arrived back at 1230P to find a line about 23726762.666 miles long of people coming for their 1PM appointment! My wife FINALLY got inside the front door about 110PM. She then stood in an inside line for anotehr 20 minutes before being directed to sit down and complete her background form - I was NOT allowed to join her this year as I was in past years. She then completed her form and had to stand in another ungodly line to have her document entered and her fingers examined.

Well, having come through that ... she was given number 805 ... and they were working ONLY on 740 at the time! The room was full of people "left over" from before lunch hour.

Well, the slowest contractors on earth finally got to number 805 approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes after getting into the front door (not counting the original line wait of 40 minutes).

SO, Biometrics took about 7 minutes and the entire process from arrival to departure was an astounding 3 hours and 10 minutes!

I could say something else here but I won't!:blink:

That is pretty scary RichardS! I'm in Atlanta too, about to send off my petition to remove condition on my residency. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and the idea of standing in line there for hours doesn't sound very appealing!

My AOS was approved without interview by CSC and I am thimking (hoping) my I-751 could be transferred and processed there too. By looking at the timelines on the awesome table on this thread, I see it takes about 2 months after the first NOA is received to get the biometrics. I'll be delivering my baby at the beginning of April and I'm hoping I'll get the appointment before that.

How does the biometrics date get scheduled? Do you actually schedule the appointment by phone after receiving the NOA1 or are they going to send the date together with the NOA1?

Thanks for posting your experience. ;) Good luck with your application!

Hi Micius:

Thanks for your kind words....

The USCIS schedules your Biometrics for you .... notice is typically received several weeks after you get your NOA / 1- year extension letter! You can fill-in the bottom of the form to get the date rescheduled without too much hassle.

As you can see, most people's Biometrics appt is around 2 months after they receive the extension!

The Atlanta Service Center won't let any children inside, no cell phones, no purses, etc. so you'll need to leave the baby at home or have someone come along to care for the child while you are waitning (endlessly) to get your prints and photo taken!

Good luck to you as well!!!

WOW! do we feel lucky. We had our biometric done in Sacramento and were in and out in twenty minutes. Except for driving 7 hours each way in a big storm it was a piece of cake.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully you can get your card without the interview.
