So one more post, with a few more questions....

my husband served in the military once in 2002 and once in 2006 the records that I have are just his libretto with the certification inside. it states the year, and its an official document... anyone know if this will be enough for his records... i was told by his mom, that there are no other real records that I could get ahold of. I have the libretti, and then a photocopy of both... anyone have experience in this field???

also i saw somewhere that the I-864 needs to be notarized.... was i looking at an out of date form? or is that really true?

i think thats it for now.... good luck to anyone who is reading this, and sending good thoughts out for everyone!

Military Records

Available. The Foglio Matricolare is the usual record of military service. It gives complete details regarding military service, including convictions before court martials. Officers are issued the Stato di Servizio that contains more complete information than the Congedo Illimitato that is merely a discharge certificate. Military records may not be available to those who have not reported to their military district after leaving Italy. There is an fee for this service.

NO

Are the Affidavit of Support forms required to be notarized?

No. The sponsor just has to sign the form. You should know however, when the sponsor signs an Affidavit of Support form, he/she certifies that the information provided, transcript and/or photocopy of tax documentation is true and correct, under penalty of perjury.
