G-325a - Just Checking...

Lauren and I are preparing to file for our K-1! Yay!

I'm going to ask these questions on the G-325a as I couldn't really find much info on them here. They may be obvious but I'm sure you'll agree it's better to be safe than sorry! I've filled out all four identical sheets (or rather the wonderful Adobe Acrobat has done it for me!) and I appreciate that the G-325a is a somewhat generic form for several types of application. I'm the 'beneficiary' so some of the things on the form that apply to Lauren obviously won't apply to me.

1. Firstly, the top right corner sports a section entitled 'File Number' with a blank space preceeded by an 'A'. I'm presuming as I haven't made any kind of application prior to this that I just leave this blank. Good so far?

2. I've skipped past the part with all the former spouses, as Lauren will be my first and hopefully ONLY wife. I've filled in my 5 years worth of addresses but immediately beneath that it asks "Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year". I'm assuming that as I've ALWAYS lived outside the US, the helpful USCIS clerk that goes through my forms will realise that and it will be okay to leave that blank.

3. At the very bottom of each copy, it says "Be sure to put your name and Alien Registration Number in the box outlined by heavy border below" As I don't have any such registration number, I'm assuming it's okay to ignore the big bold words and leave that part blank.

Have I got this all right? Other than that, it's been a piece of cake to fill this out!

Thanks!

Laurence

1) FAQ:

3.9.1....On form G-325A, where can I get the file number started with "A-" ( it is the far right box of the first row of boxes) for both me and my fiance. Also in the last box with the heavy border how would I put my fiance's alien registration number there while she has none. Can I just leave it blank.

A..You can write "none" in both those spaces. At this early stage, the fiance(e) doesn't have an alien registration number ("A" number). The file number (which will be the "A" number) is assigned when the I-129f petition is approved (see question 3.7). Just put your names in the "last box with the heavy border". The "applicant" on the form the US Citizen fills out is the US Citizen. The "applicant" on the form the fiance(e) fills out is the Fiance(e).

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-I129f.html#3.9.1

2) Foreign citizen puts current address ther, US citizen if lived outside USA will but the foreign address there. (I-129F requres 2 G-325A forms one from foreign citizen and one from US citizen.

3) See (1) above.

NOTE: G-325A is a 4 page form, fill out page 1 and print all 4, the other 3 pages will fill out for you.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

None or N/A when actually not applicable are what the instructions say to use. Leaving blank is asking for trouble.

3. You each put your name and "none" in the space for A # 1. is similar answer. Don't "skip"

2. Don't "skip". Write "none" for former spouse.

The exception to the don't skip rule is for the I-134 and I-864 forms you'll complete at later stages of the immigration process. In income alone is sufficient, you may skip all questions about assets.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

One thing to remember when going through all this paperwork, as we have learned sometimes the hard way, is to NEVER leave anything blank!

Ignore chuck and rose mate. You want to quadruple check everything and then check it all again to make sure. Trust me I have checked my papers at least 20 times. Before anyone asks I do not have O.C.D or at least I didn't until I started this lol
