I'd just like to ask for good thoughts and prayers be sent to my mum in London,England.

Myself and my son moved here to NY in March (exactly a month ago today) and we left behind all our family including my mother who raised me and my brother and sister on her own (dead beat dad aint the word), well today I got a call from my mum, to cut a long story short she has been feeling down and tired and just plain crappy so she went to the doctor and this week started her first course of radiotherapy, they found 8 lumps in her throat the largest being 8mm and attached to her thyroid Gland she didnt want to tell me as I was so excited about moving here and starting a life with my husband etc.

I am a bit pissed that she didnt tell me from the begining but I can understand why she chose to with hold the info.

I know that this might not be the place to ask people to send good wishes and get well prayers but I feel so alone out here right now, she is still so young and although I told her that if she aint worried then neither am I, I am worried sick and thinking the worst..

Thank you all

Donna

I am hoping and praying for a speedy recovery for your mom.

I know how you feel. Moms can be overprotective of their kids sometimes. My mom had major surgery to remove some tumors during finals week of my senior year of college and no one told me so as not to disrupt my tests.

(((hugs)))

Donna... my prayers are with your mom... and with you... I will be praying for a quick recovery... and a successful radiotherapy treatment. I would say that it would be wonderful to have lots of contact with your mom right now, since you are so far away. There are lots of good phone services and calling cards that offer great rates. This will be a tremendous emotional journey for her... and just knowing that you are there for her emotionally will take the bite off of the toll. Sounds like your mom raised a very loving and caring woman. God bless you both!

Thanks for all your good wishes.

I just got off the phone with my mum, she says she is feeling positive and that I should too.

She said she dont want me to go back to England as she feels it would be a waste of money, she just told me that if ever I feel like I need to talk to her about my fears over her illness then all I have to do is call (she is the one that is ill and still she thinks of me, BLOODY MOTHERS are marvelous aint they).

Anyway once again thanks and I will keep you updated (she has radiotherapy for the next 5 weeks so touch wood all works out well)

Almost done with it all
