I was just looking at this story on CNN and found it very interesting. I praise this guy for bringing attention to the underside of 'cosmopolitan' Istanbul - these issues effect so many places, globally.

Thanks for the link! I had read about him, in the Hurriyet news, a while back and was interested in seeing more of his photos.

I just found out I will be going on a business trip to Istanbul, next month (YEAH), and wasn't planning on being able to go back until we actually had an interview. So this was a nice surprise. While I am there, we want to work on getting stuff together and ready, for when Fuat get's packet # 3. I've looked over a lot of the information on the Ankara Consulate web site and have a question about the birth certificate.

It say's "One original and certified copy"..

How should I be reading this? Do they want the original and then a certified copy? Or is it just the one copy.. Original and certified..

We already have the original. I'm just wondering we also need to get a certified copy of it. Maybe all my research and reading is making me read more into things than I need to!

I believe it is one copy-an original, certified copy (certified as in stamped). Not an original AND certified as a certified copy would be an original...lol I know how confusing it gets! Ha ha.

Also, get two "certified copies" if you can as they ask for it again in AOS and we got away with a copy of the certified copy thank goodness, but to be on the safe side......

Hey Mina!!

Glad you popped in and glad you are doing well despite what you are going through. You are very sweet and I am sure everything will be for the best in the end!

Take care Mina!

Come on Tanya update us!!! ha ha

I tried posting this once, but it didn't appear. If it shows up twice.. my apologies :)

Debbie, I hope you and your family are feeling better soon. I think there might be a problem with the emails, since I didn't get the message you asked about, so if you didn't get my message today please let me know.

Does anyone know where Fuat can go to get an official "certified" translation of his documents? When I told him he would have to have certified translations, and he could not do the translation himself, he said he does not know where he would go to have this done. He'll have his birth certificate, police record and military record ( showing his vaccinations).. but they will all be in Turkish and he has been told, by at least one of the offices, they cannot give him an English translation.

Any suggestions where he can go for "certified" translation? He is living in Istanbul.

you can tell him to go to a certified translation office ( yeminli tercüme bürosu is what it is in Turkish :) ) there are plenty of them in istanbul :) I don't know where he lives but I went to the one in Besiktas called 'Global Tercüme'. they are pretty good.

Hi everyone! I know it has been awhile since I have posted....between internet/computer troubles & my hectic school schedule right now...but anyway, I just wanted to tell you all that our daughter, Defne Azra Karaman, was born on Oct 1st weighing 8 lb 2 oz! All's well and she's as healthy as can be :) I'll try to post a picture soon but I have had more troubles in that department as my digital camera so conveniently broke 2 days before her birth ( :ranting:) so the only pics we have are on our phones and an old digital camera that I have lost the cable for! :(

Hope everyone is well!
